Today We pick potatoes up on the ground, collect and sorting by hand.

We still do ours by hand- got about 500' of double rows of norlunds, red pontiacs, and russet from our last years potatoes we saved.
I kill the potato bugs by hand everyday. No pesticides of any kind. I grow them under bio plastic for weed control.
They are ready to dig. I go up the rows filling the tractor bucket as I dig them. -Waiting for the weather to cool a bit.

The pros around here harvest potatoes like your machine, but more mechanized and untouched by human hands!

This is earlier in the season. (The deer have eaten some of the tops- put up bird tape later to scare them off. Next year will fence it.

Now that is the way to dig potatoes. Always wanted one but I guess I don't need one now. Thanks Ed

Nice potato field, they use big potato harvesters, I have seen those machines and they are fast and strong.. and expensive..

Hey Metsa, can you do a follow up video concerning the storage of your potatoes. And please explain the sorting process?? How do you decide which bucket to put them in??? Thanks for your posts as always. My wife and I greatly enjoy watching them.

Did you buy seed potatoes or use old spuds? The price of seed potatoes here is so high that I'd rather use leftover spuds.

Thank You very much, I already put those potatoes in My cellar what is in under My house... sorry that I haven't make video on that..
In sorting process I look potatoes, is they any damages or diseases ( potato blight or common scap) those potatoes go in "garbage bucket" and other goes in "good bucket" and My cellar.
