Simple question. Won 2013 model Poulan Chainsaw 50CC. And to my surprise...thing ran like a champ for the past 6 or so months.. let someone borrow it..and they ran ethanol mixed gas it ( I always ran pure high test gas) now the Kaputs!! If it sets for a few days , choke and pull..it runs great for about 20secs..when I let the throttle off..nothing..I have to let it sit around for a few days.. is this due to the gas they ran in it..they claim it started about 10 mins after adding the gas when the tank was low.

Maybe the saw wore out already! The new Poulans are not real reliable. But it sounds to me like maybe bad gas? I'd drain the tank, put in some good gas, and see if it improves.

Done the drain, cleaned what I could of the carb, and tried to run new gas. It fires,, but once you let the choke of, gas it a few times,,it acts like it's starving for fuel.

checked the fuel filter in the tank ? ( really bad gas will clog it up good )

checked the spark plug for fouling ?

did the "borrower" play with the carb settings?

Replaced filter, new plug just in case ( it does fire and run until choke is off) he has no tools, and I have yet to break down and buy the new tools to adjust settings ( Don'tcha love how they keep changing the way to adjust thinks, in an attempt to force the owners like us to take them to an "Authorized dealer )

Sounds like it is running for just a bit on fuel forced in by the primer bulb? This is very typical for a leaking or plugged "fuel pump" which is just a little rubber diaphragm actuated by engine crankcase pressure pulses. Ethanol is notorious for deteriorating them enough to leak. On the other hand, I have had a number of little 2-cycle engines do this but then be fixed by a generous dose of SeaFoam in the fuel to clean out any clogs/gunk. So try a good dose of SeaFoam first - keep trying to make it run by applying/releasing the choke for long enough to pull enough fuel/cleaner through to make a difference. It that doesn't do it, you'll probably have to pull off the carb to clean thoroughly and replace the pump diaphragm.

I'll try the seafoam... I am a US trained GED/DED engine mech for Gen Sets..( threw that out there so no one thinks I'm a noob) I pulled the carb apart and cleaned ....kept doing the same thing..even low pressure blew the lines out ...dangest thing I've ever seen
