MacLawn,

It seems like it should be fairly easy to make the power beyond kit that JD no longer makes. Most of the trouble that I am having is my lack of experience with hydraulics (I have absolutely no experience with them). That said, I'm on the verge of a solution, so I will be sure to update this post once I have it figured out and working.

The 790 is a great little tractor. I've had good luck with it.

To kind of tag on to this thread about the 790, I looked at one yesterday, 500 hours with FEL, no backhoe. So, y'all saying here that installing a backhoe on the 790 is not easy, eh? If that's the case, I'll pass on this one, even though it's a great looking tractor with low hours. I need a backhoe.

I don't read into this that it is difficult.. just informative as to how to get the hyd. lines to where the backhoe connects. That looks pretty straight forward, as I see it shown.

The initial setup, or prep, takes some time but if you have all of the correct brackets and such it's pretty easy. Once you have the tractor prepped, the install/remove is literally a minute or so. I got my hoe used and it was setup for a different tractor. I bought the install kit for the 790 and converted the hoe to fit. (they used the #7 backhoe on various different tractors).

Hi Jeff,

I got home and had a look at my tractor. UN-fortunately, I cannot see a thing with the cover in place under the seat (it's off in the photos you posted). Let me know how badly you need the info, it looks like I could pop that cover off pretty easily if you want.

I also found some extra parts that came with the PB kit but it's nothing you can't find locally.

And I have the parts catalogs for the 7 and 790. There is an exploded view of the PB kit but it's not very clear where each connection attaches. There are 3 solid lines shown but one must be for tractors without the DSCV control. Assuming you have the DSCV for your loader, it appears that both lines tie in there and not the rockshaft cover.

Would the instructions for installing the PB kit be on John Deere's web site? Or if someone has one maybe they could scan it and post. John Deere usually has very comprehensive instructions with their kits.

I looked at my service tech manual that covers the 790 and found these two pages that may help.. (seems a bit brief to me).

This will definitely help the op but what I was thinking about is the installation instructions that come with the kit. They are usually very detailed.

I went to here John Deere - Parts Catalog and found the part number for the 790 PB kit which is part number BM18005. I googled "john deere bm18005 installation instructions" and came up with nothing for that kit. What I did come up with is this: http://www.greenpartstore.com/assets/images/instructions/2012/lvb25220_installation_instructions.pdf. These are factory instructions for PB kit LVB25220.

These instructions are obviously for the wrong kit but I wanted to show what was available from John Deere. Anybody who can read can follow them. So....If someone saved their instructions and could post them that would be great.

Another route to go would be to go to the service manager at you local dealer and ask if they would print off the instructions for you. I'm sure they would have a copy in their computer somewhere. If you run really stuck I can ask my service manager buddy if he would give me a copy. Just pm me or leave a note on the forum.

I have a pdf of the instructions but the file is too large to attach here. It is approx. 18MB. I can send it by email if you send me your email address.
