I have a 4100 hydro with 410 loader, R4's; 39 hours. When attaching implement to 3ph, front wheels will not turn the last 15-20 degrees. (2600 rpms and 2WD). Makes changing implement nearly-impossible. Dealer changed fluids and pumps. Problem diminished when 410 removed. Any suggestions? Stumped in N.C.

not sure, but how do you like the tractor, I am buying and looked at Kubota also? What is your opinion?

Carl, my opinion will depend on John Deere resolving this problem. If this is normal behavior for the 4100, I would recommend that you stay away from it, since it is nearly impossible to mount a 3-point hitch implement when you can not make adjustments in the tractor position due to a non-fully functional steering system. I did not notice this when I purchased the 4100, however, it has become an issue as I acquired attachments and have tried to change them. Also note that the bucket is empty when this happens!

Perhaps I don't understand the problem, but I have noticed no problems with my attachments affecting the steering or problems with attaching my rear blade (410 loader, and 5 ft rear blade). As the manual states, however, when in four wheel drive the tractor will not turn as sharply.

Sounds like you do have a malfunction. I have pretty much the same setup - 4100Hydro, Turf Tires, 410 Loader, Ballast in rear tires - and I have no problem hooking up the 3-pt ballast box. Show the dealer exactly what is wrong, they should fix it.

WH BOB, this is absolutely not normal for the 4100. An implement on the 3pt and the loader attached will by no means have an affect on the steering. Get it looked at by the dealer.

I have the same tractor and have no problems with FEL and steering, almost sounds like something is binding when the loader is put on. Are the hyd lines in the way? Or amybe underbelly mounting is impededing steering linkage. I usually have the FEL and a box blade on at the same time and never had any problems. I did put the wheels on the wide settting though for a little more stability.

Hey Bob, did you get the problem with the turning fixed? i am curious to kow what the problem was. been driving me crazy thrying to figure that one out. Hyd pressure should not have anything to do with the turning radius unless something is binding somewhere or a line is crossed and pressure is backfeeding.

I got my 4100 back yesterday. They inserted shim under spring that controls pressure in ps system to boost it from around 1000psi to around 1300 psi. I tried the tractor at the dealer two days ago and this seems to have gone a long ways in solving the problem. All warrantee work and NC. If you have a 4100, check this out and have it corrected under warranty. Other than this experience, I am pleased with tractor. As said many times before on this board, the dealer is important in making a purchase!
