I have a Ford 3600 , not sure of the year , its an 8 speed - high and low , my power steering fluid is getting into my tranny some how , engine oil stays same , and clear , but the tranny get way above full and I have to drain it out , how is the fluid getting into the tranny ? Help there are no other leaks in the system , that I can see , 3 point works great
Thanks for any help

Does the tractor live outside? It’s probably water getting in over the shifters. Unless someone got in there and did something to it, the reservoir for the PS and transmission are separate on a 3600.

no, the tractor stays in a covered shed , I bought it about 5 months ago , and the previous owner said it had been serviced , after using it a few times and checking the fluids every time , I noticed the power steering was disappearing , but no real bad leaks to see , and the tranny and engine were always fine , but the other day the tranny was way over the full mark on the dip stick , oil for engine is still perfect , but I had never checked the rear , it did not come out of the check hole , when I checked it , but the tranny was way over and I drained it , the power steering was also low and I had to add to it , is it possible the rear is going into the tranny ? All the hydraulics work great . Thanks for any advice

Since Ford 3600 tractor power steering isn't connected to trans I think it would be difficult for PS oil to get into trans.

I would suspect rear end/hydraulic fluid is leaking into tranny.

I don't recall you saying how much fluid we are talking about?

I took out about a quart and half from the tranny , the check hole on the rear still does not come out , which means its low , but all the 3 point and everything works ok , I added 1 gal to the rear yesterday and it never came out the hole , so I checked the tranny on the dip stick and it was way over again , so I just left it like it was , do you think it will hurt anything to use it like it is ??
Thanks for any help

I don't think so. Worst thing would be if it caused the tranny input shaft seal to leak into the clutch housing.

I'd probly drain it regularly to determine the flow rate.

The rear will still function with it being a couple gallon or more low.
