My son bought his neices (my granddaughters) a basic, pink Barbie Jeep from WallyWorld or Toys'RUs last year for Xmas. Zoe was 3-1/2 and Erin was just 2. Here in Florida, they use it year-round. It's been well over a year, now, and I'm amazed at how well it has held up. They use it all over our combined 7-1/2 acres, only about 200' paved driveway. Last time we were out there, the kids followed Grandma around on her golf cart.

I think they sell a more masculine version for little guys, GI Joe Jeep, I think. I've also seen tractors and a JD Gator, but I don't know if they're by the same mfr. I don't think the image it projects is as important to the kids as it is to the adults...but I agree I wouldn't get the pink Barbie Jeep for a little man.

Here's a link to Fisher Price Power Wheels -- they have a bunch of them! Zoe & Erin's is the "Take-Along-Tunes" model. Power Wheels Click on 2-6 years. If we had seen the Fire-Rescue Jeep, we'd have gotten that, because their Daddy is a Fireman/EMT/Paramedic.

I saw a green tractor with fel, pulling a cart. Was the usual ABS plastic, and was motorized. Not sure where I saw it.. but it was a 'box' store.

I would have loved one of those when I was a kid.. course.. I'm not sure ABS plastic was invented then!

All of them that I've every seen - except the real cheapies - are Fisher Price Power Wheels. For our 2 kids they have a 4 wheeler, a rail buggy/terminator type vehicle, and my personal favorite the Silverado. The four wheeler seems to be their favorite. Easier to get on/off vs. in/out. The handle bars also make it easier to steer vs. the car/truck w/ steering wheels (no power steering /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif). They do ride on the 4 wheeler together, but the Silverado is the only one designed for 2. It is the biggest PowerWheel they make - but that is a draw back considering they still use the same battery motor combo. It is slower and the battery doesn't last as long as the other ones. We have 4 batteries for 3 vehicles and are constantly swapping one of them out. Here are my kids riding their 4 wheeler.

I bought my oldest daughter one of the Gators built by Peg Perego. They are of very good quality but seem to be slightly smaller than some of the other electric vehicles sold. She out grew it and passed it on to her little sister. Daddy built them a trailer to use with it.

Our 3 1/2 year got a Peg Perego Polaris 700 Twin ATV. He enjoys it the most when I ride with him. It differs from the car types in that you saddle it versus sit in it. I would say the wheel base is similar and nearly impossible to upset. He has become incredible dexterous with it. It will go for many hours on a charge.
