Kubota MX5100 HST
All 4x4, all with FEL, and all HST. I have a rough quote of $25k for the L4600 and haven't checked on the MX's yet. Website build price is within $300 for the L4600 and MX5100 and the MX4700 is cheapest. For my use, the extra HP isn't a requirement; in fact I could probably get away with the L3800 and I only started looking at the L4600 so I didn't buy something too small the first time. If the MX4700 is cheapest, why should I get that over the L4600?

25K sounds about right for the L4600 with options you cited. (you didnt mentioned tires and Q/A loader?) Mine was cheaper but I have the DT/gear model.

The MX line is basically an entry level Ag tractor; a bit larger, heavier, and as I understand it a bit more hydraulic capacity. The 5100 also has a turbo. The L4600 is from the Compact line,, but with a pretty large engine. (Im sure you knew that stuff already though)

It gets down to your needs. Will you need a larger machine that is heavier? Has a bigger chassis and overall footprint? For our needs the L4600 was more suited due to its smaller overall size.

You will be very happy with any of the models you mentioned, they are all excellent machines. I simply love my L4600 and there are LOTS of MX owners here on TBN who can speak to its merits.

Compare the specs of the L4600 & mx4700, get the one with most FEL lift & weight. When price is close, get the tractor that most fits your needs. Price are a bit lower here in Mo...

I've been very impressed with my L3800DT, Very! But the L4600DT really appeals to me, it has a new syncro trans & good specs for it's size. Don't like HST at all, but that's just personal preference...

Love my mx4700. Wouldn't want the turbo on the 5100, but that's just me. The l4600 might have telescoping three point link arms, which the 4700 doesn't. For me the MX had the most weight and power for the price. I wouldn't pay more money for the 4600 since it's lighter, less HP, and a weaker loader. I paid 24.5 for mine with loaded tires.

Last I checked (a few months ago) the L4600 was around 4-5k less than the mx5100. Haven't priced a mx4700 here...

The l4600 was about 2-3k more than my mx4700 when I priced them here. The 5100 usually runs about 12-1800$ more than the 4700.

I thought tires were all the same price regardless of the ones I chose? I'm looking at the Ag tires for my hills and wet spots. I most definitely want the quick attach loader. I wouldn't consider any of them without it. I think it's standard on the L4600.

The loader on the MX4700/5100 can lift significantly more than the L4600. Otherwise, all of the other specs aside from horsepower are so close that it's a wash. Heading in to the dealer again today. I'll also give the dealer where my dad bought his BX a few years ago and see what they price me at.

Dang, the L4600 must have gone up in price a lot since I last looked?

I'd have to go with the mx4700DT here...

Ag tires work best for me. R4s' don't have enough traction when the ground is wet here.

R4s are great if you work on pavement and dry pasture. Otherwise, get the r1s. The MX series has more tire size options for r1s than the l4600.

Regarding the specs, isn't the MX heavier than the L? Weight equals more power to the ground. Also quick attach was standard on my MX.
