problem removing NH flail mower bearings (roller)

/ problem removing NH flail mower bearings (roller) #21
I dug up a couple pictures from when I replaced the bearing on the baler last year.
No after pictures for some reason, but I heated the ring on the outside of the shaft cherry red and then tapped on the shaft with a medium ball peen hammer and the ring and the inner bearing race both came right off.

Here are a few pics. The bearing holder is also the height adjustment for the roller. There is a snap ring that holds the bearing assembly. Little room behind the assembly, I ground down the feet of my 3 legged puller to fit behind the assembly and heated the stuck inner bearing with a torch but it would not budge. Difficult to get good assess with the torch. Hard to get a split bearing puller behind it because of the height adjustment plate. No room for a die grinder, cutting the inner bearing is not an option without risking damaging the snap ring groove. I wonder how the dealer mechanics removed this assembly to replace the bearings?View attachment 564210View attachment 564211View attachment 564210

Hi, you can use this tool to pull it out off the roller first!!!

By the way, what do you call this tool in English?

That looks like what I would call a hydraulic 3 jaw puller.

got a new word, 3 jaw puller

By the way, after fail to get it off by 3 jaw puller, we will use fire to melt the bearing housing, that's the final solution.

Hello and good morning Mr. Yuan

Over here on this side of the Pacific Pond we refer to the Venerable Chinese Dragon as the Rosebud torch head or the oxyacetylene cutting torch in the this manner:

"Smoke Wrench"

Hi Leonz, good morning. It's midnight here in China. "Smoke Wrench", I like this word, interesting, I will tell this word to my workers.

Smoke Wrench is a common term around here. That reminds me of this Meme:

Speak of bearings that need a smoke wrench, I pulled this one off of the round baler last night.
This end came off with just a slice with the grinder to the inner race, had to use the torch on the other end as the lock collar was quite stuck...
