There have been many local meetings about the shale drilling and pipelines to follow. Not sure what county you actually live in, but the local paper or again, the Farm and Dairy have listed many of these meetings. Also, the Farm Bureau has been quite active in getting the word out. You may want to contact them to see what information they have to assist you before the pipeline company gets serious. Once the easement is filed at the recorder's office, it is very hard to change. Also, our gas/oil wells and the pipeline have been sold several times, so the only documents that matter are the ones recorded. The easement will be there for as long as the pipeline, so if you have children that will take over the property, be sure they are not held to the flame later - sharing the cost of a lawyer with the neighbors is a good idea.
