My latest project was to build a tree saw out of an old discarded brush cutter.
We may later add a hydraulic tree pusher, if we find we need it. Till then, if we have any doubts about how it will fall, we just fall it with a chain saw, then cut the stump off at or below ground level.
It will cut up to 19" in a single pass.
Together with my homemade grapple, I can get some serious work accomplished.

Wow, that's quite the ankle bitter you got there.

Now let's see some action videos!

Well, we have not learned to take video's or post them.

Attached is pic of a 13x17 black jack tree we cut. If you don't already know, black jack is really hard wood. Probably the most hard we have in our area that I know of.

What did you use for teeth. And great job.

We had the saw blade made for us. It is made with 1/2" plate, is cut out for the teeth, then has a 3/4x3-1/2 bar welded in to mount the carbide insert to for cutting. Insert is 3/4x3/4x1/4 rotatable & reversible. All 8 sides can be used.

Attached is pic, this particular one shows one of two weights we added when balancing the blade.

You can actually cut below ground level. Of course, you lower the ground level for 4' also.
