Point being, for liability a Kia Rio might have higher liability than the Vette, based on that insurance companies database

So, based on this, im guessing an Audi is more expensive to insure than a corvette, or a f150

I was mostly joking about the corvette, but no, I dont think of them as a sports car, but as an old fart car...
"This ain't your father's Oldsmobile."

A 1250 hp mid-engine monster of a vehicle, capable of 2.3 lateral-G and a 0 - 60 under(!) 2 seconds, is in no way an "old fart car." It's hard to even name another vehicle that's a more perfect blend of sports and muscle car.

Mr. Sigarms, gift him your Honda Pilot and buy your dream car...

Just a quick story...

My son (who I never worried about getting off the way) was in his 3rd year at college and doing great. Unfortunately the hand-me down Accord he was driving finally died.

I took him to pick out a brand new Honda Civic from a friend working at the Honda dealer...my gift to him.

We happened to pass a 3 year old Prelude on the lot that he big eyed...at the same money.

And of course I tried to get him in the virtuous, responsible Civic...

He drove the sporty Prelude home, the happiest guy in the world and hugely appreciative. He babied that car for the next 10 years and received renewed joy once again by selling it to a new 18 year old with the same big eyes.

I'm a dedicated "Function Over Form" pragmatic, but twenty years later with him in his 40's, he told me that he never believed I would buy the Prelude over the Civic. It remains a memorable highlight for him and he again shared sincere appreciation.

It was the same money...but with dramatically different results...

??? I and nearly every one of my friends had our Corvettes in our 20's. We had Camaros and Mustangs in our late teens... poor-man's Corvettes. :p
This is the funny thing...

My dads V6 Honda Accord (which gets up to 40 MPH driving 55 on long highway trips) can go just as fast as a V8 '72 Cuda.

We complain about technology (and sometimes rightfully so) but at the end of the day, it's not as bad as we think it is.

It's a great idea, but at the end of the day, he would want something a little more sportier along with better gas mileage. He's looking for something that will push in the high 20's for "city" and high 30's for "road" driving. Added the fact that although we did put a pretty penny for some major repairs a while ago, it's well over 250K on the odometer. I get the fact that nothing is free in life, and you can't beat a free car, but if he's going to go down this road again, he'll want something newer with lower mileage that is "his" if that makes sense.

He just texted me yesterday on some new job skills he was learning while being overseas. Wife isn't too happy but we realize training only helps and he's getting the added responsibility that he was given due to how he's been progressing. End of the day, if we were to die tomorrow, I think he has he feet on solid ground as a 21 year old "adult", and he really doesn't need us anymore as parents.

That said, I now know how my dad felt now when I was 40 with my own life, and not needing him for anything. He was still there though for me and wanting to help. End of the day, we should all be so lucky to have that kind of relationship with our children where the kids don't need help.

Sidenote, my dream car would be a 911, but I would even agree with my wife that is not very practical per the price point. I do however like the new Nizzan Z :ROFLMAO:

The reality is anything that fast, I would end up killing myself in.

I'm at the point that I feel like my dad, just want something with some pick up and go on it ;)

^^^^ This!

My dream car is my black 2013, 2 door Rubicon, 6 speed manual, lifted and running 35's.

Not a speed demon, but driving it with the top and doors off is a mini vacation and I'm living the teenage years dreamed of but never experienced...

Honestly, have more fun driving my dads car vs anything else.

0-60 sub 6 seconds

Front wheel drive

Roll down both windows and open sun roof, feels like a convertible

Averages 30 MPG fuel mileage

Plenty of room for 2 people in front, people can get by in the back, but not for long drives IMO

Driving 60 MPH, put the gas down to the floor, the car will still push you back into the seat due to the acceleration (it goes from 60-80 on the highway very well when you want to pass)

I honestly don't understand why Honda discontinued their V6 accord coupes. Other manufactures still make some "get up and go" V6 coupes, but not honda anymore.

I really never gave Honda a second thought on those models until my dad bought one, and they've grown on me.

His first car he really looked at buying new was a Mazda Miata after my mom passed (he saw one in the mall we were walking in together and he liked it). I took another drive up to Pa to visit him, we went to Allentown to test drive one. Top down, in the summer, and we come to a stop light, and I look at my dad hoping he might like the car, and ask him what he thinks of it.

Word for word his response was "my f***ing balls are roasting!"

I knew right there he wasn't going to buy one LOL
