Hi all!

I have a Ford 340B industrial tractor and would like to install a quick attach adapter and grapple and later a set of forks. It is not difficult to find threads on TBN discussing quick attach adapters and grapples for compact tractors, however, I have not seen many threads discussing the same for industrial tractors.

Has anyone done this on a 340B or similar industrial tractors? I emailed Everything Attachments and Rick Rinehardt replied that they do not have an adapter that would be heavy enough for my 340B and their Wicked Grapple isn't heavy enough. I also emailed ATI Corporation and Jack Herr said their model QA-FO11 quick attach adapter ($1,425.00) would work on my tractor. He also said they could build an industrial strength grapple for approx. $4,000.00! The quick attach adapter is doable, but the grapple is somewhat out of my budget range.

Does anyone know of a grapple that would be suitable for my tractor that is lower priced?

Also, I do not have remote hydraulics. What should I use for my set-up?

Thanks for your recommendations!

I can tell you that both the ANBO and the BoDozer grapples would fit you needs very well.
Unfortunately, I fear that both would exceed your budget.
I have a BoDozer grapple and it is a fantastic piece of equipment that would work very well for you. The 340B from my quick web search seemed to vary around 48-52 hp is that about right?
I have mine on a JD 4720 which has a bit more HP than that and it works great.

Yes, you are correct regarding the hp range. The budget problem is that I must have both the quick attach adapter and the grapple. However, I am now beginning to realize how useful a grapple would be in clearing brush and small trees from our property. Can you give me a price range for the BoDozer?

Thanks

I am not sure about ANBO.
Dale Borgford of Borgford Design put a JDQA on my 66 inch grapple and another member here got a SSQA put on his identical grapple. Dale had the specs and welded the correct attachment for what we needed. I do not know what the Ford attachment mechanism is but he might be able to build it to hook up to your tractor just like your bucket does. Of course I have no idea how your bucket hooks so I do not know.

Separate PM sent.

A good welder either you or hire it out and you could convert to skid steer quick attach pretty easy. Heavier skid steer buckets and grapples should be a great match for your machine. You aren't going to be putting a hurt on them any worse than a modern big skid steer is dishing out.

You have a pin on heavy duty bucket now with substantial ears on the back of it. Those ears cut off your bucket and welded to a skid steer attachment adapter like this or similar from other vendors.

Then get a quick attach plate to weld to your old bucket

My combination above may not be best for you, but a little searching and you can be in ssqa real quick for less $ than you are thinking.

I think your tractor was also a backhoe too isn't it? Even if you don't have the hoe you should have plenty of hydraulics to work with to get you a 3rd function run for the grapple.

Good luck!

dusty 3030,
I have a friend who is an excellent welder and the items you linked to are much more reasonable than the set - up I was quoted a price for earlier today. Do you know if the difference in quality is significant? Now if I could only find a heavy duty grapple for less than $4000.00. I don't have a backhoe but I have found a hydraulic diverter valve kit in the $300.00 range.

Thanks for your help!

I would look at the Anbo http://www.anbomanufacturing.com/GrapplesHome.htm web site and the BoDozer http://www.borgford.com/index_files/Page586.htm site. Anbo makes lots of different styles. Bo-Dozer just the one. There are as many opinions on grapple styles as there are people. What you need is what will do the job that you want to do. There are some very vocal folks on this forum that think their grapple style is the only one that is worth anything. Look at all styles of them and determine what is best for your purpose.

Bodozer is now using Weldox steel so the data on the web site is out of date on steel type.

The ATI QA device is a sturdy product. HLA probably has a listing for that loader as well.

This is the one I use. Monster Grapple from Loflin Mfg. Very heavy duty, weighs 1200 pounds, opens to 51 inches.

Found the best price on eBay, For the 6 foot, $2,895.00. They make wider ones also.

340B is a newer 3400, so just about any modern skidsteer grapple should work. No need for an 'industrial heavy duty' design as I believe that loader has a 3000lbs or so lift at height and 4000lbs down low. All you need is the proper connects..

I am in the process of figuring this out too as I would really like a grapple. Question is, modify my bucket to add one with forks, or buy a purpose built one for 2x the cost.. ?
