Chains R4: no clearance for tire chains in L3830; any experience?

Hi, I was looking for tire chains for my L3830 with R4 (17.5Lx24) tires. After my previous post I decided for the duo type and called an internet company that sells chains. A very nice person called me back and said that the 1.25 inch clearance I have on the inside of the tires is not enough. It make a lot of sense. I wander if anybody had experience with a similar tractor and chains and what Kubota is thinking by not considering clearances for chains on its machines of the L class. I need chains and I'm considering selling the tractor. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat w/ my L3400 w/ R4's. I have yet to find a solution that does not include the purchase of $300 spacers. If you find a solution please post it.

I have a B7800 with R4s and I needed to add wheal spacers, I for get how much they were but it was alot of $$$.

You could try these. They are very nice chains with small links and wear bars that grip but expensive. Mine work great so far but I have a different tractor. Secure Online Shopping for all of your Tire Chain needs

I have chains on my L48 and same problem. With your tractor you can unbolt center of rim and reverse to provide clearance. Not so on TLBs.

Here are pictures of the chains I have - clearance is pretty good due to the smaller links and side chains. To bad they cost so much in the bigger sizes, wheel spacers might be cheaper but these are real nice chains.

I'm running double rings on an L3710 with the same R4 tires. The clearance is close, but I keep the chains tight and have not had a problem, (I've had the chains for 8+ years).

I had the same problem on my L245DT, we are running 13.6x16 turf tires which need chains on anything that is even damp, much less frozen, son and I removed the fenders, turned the bracket adapter( that is the angle shape with bolts thru fender, and holes that sit on top of studs at the axle around, which gained an inch or so), then cut the sheet metal bracing that is about 8 inches wide off abour 8 inches up from the very bottom of the fender, bolted everything back on and now have over 2 inches of clearance even with the big chain links that came on the chains. In the spring we will weld new stiffeners back onto the seat side of them, using small channel iron or angle iron and they will be better than original.

I ended up buying the spacers for around $200.00 from carver equipment before the went under.
