CCI.. I thought that's the opposite of what I've heard here on TBN.. the rear discharge are the mowers that are clogged up when the grass is wet.. not the side discharge.

On a rear discharge mower the grass just goes out the rear. On a side discharge mower the grass has to be blown out the side, if its heavy due to moisture it wants to clog up. Side discharges mowers are desirable if you need to move the grass away from an area and easier rake after.

rear is way to go it doesn't clump up but spreads grass out. if you're in such a hurry to mow when it's wet you probaly just need to go buy a 7K dollar deere lawn course mower..

My Woods RM306 was originally sold as a side discharge, but came convertable to a rear discharge just with the addition of a plate on the side. I think the thing that made it most convertable was that there was minimal baffling underneath. Because of this it functions real well as a rear-discharge but may have been a little weak at sending all the cuttings out the side.

My guess is clogging occurs on these other units because all the baffling is keeping too much of the cuttings stuck under the deck. By the way, my blades rotate counter-clockwise. I've never heard there was a standard one way or the other.
