Rebuilding Branson 4720h Kukje A2300. What I have learned so far.

overall do you believe the issues are from abuse or from design? i have a similar vintage 4720h with 725 hours on it currently. it smokes on startup for maybe 10 seconds.

I think it was poorly taken care of and people use starting fluid to start it. What kind of smoke does it have on startup? White blue or black?

My 8050 has always given off a puff of black smoke on a cold start.

So I received the cylinder head and pistons from China. They are absolutely identical to what was in the tractor. Even the casting numbers. So for those that are interested the 1700 200p and 2300 are Cummins engines. All of the parts interchange. There's no need to purchase the parts from Branson. They might even be made in China and just sealed in a Branson package. We will see once I get the tractor started but bearings gaskets etc are spot on and high quality

Thanks for your information Bob. I just bought a 2007 4720 and am wondering how much I will need to do.
My engine smokes, (blue), a lot for a few minutes after startup then just a bit after that. I'm following your progress with much interest.
The previous owner of mine really neglected everything.

You probably have a small oil leak from the valve guides. How many hours on the engine? A good machine shop could probably do the head for reasonable money. PO probably overheated the engine would be my guess.
