Does anyone know if redline has a website, or better yet I'm sure they have one but how do you get to it. I noticed today where advance auto parts stocks this oil.....eight bucks a quart but I think I like it. It's a grade five oil I think teddy

I have used it and Amsoil. It is unique. I don't know if this is good or bad, but it even adheres to the dipstick differently. I use 10W30 in my tractor. Kubota calls for either 10W30 or 15W40. Redline suggested I use 10W30 being fully aware it was in a diesel.

No doubt it is a very good oil. I think I like it the best of all brands. However, as you noticed, $8 a quart is rather steep. I think Amsoil is very comparable in quality (I wouldn't say better), and it is $3 a quart cheaper. If anyone knows a way to get Red Line at a reasonable price, I'm all ears! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know how to get it cheaper. It's made not to far from where I live. It is definitely different then the Amsoil I used. It beads up on the dip stick rather then coating it like conventional oils and Amsoil does. Whether that is good or not, I do not know.

I used it years ago when I was doing the engine work on a "Late Model" stock car team. The engine survived overheating, overreving and general abuse night after night with no problems. To me, it's the best out there. I just think it's a bit overkill for your typical 2600 rpm diesel CUT. A close friend is semi retired from farming. His sons run the business and have numerous tractors and skid steers. They get 10,000 to 11,000 hours out of a piece of equipment before they sell it. They buy a local brand Cling-Tuf 15W-40 diesel in 55 gal drums for about $1/Qt. I use synthetic diesel because of the cold weather starting properties, not long term durability. Bottom line, use it if it gives you piece of mind, just realize it's really not necessary in a CUT that will never approach the number of hours most commercial equipment does on good old dino juice.

I think you are right on the overkill. I think I will use it on my next change though. I will leave it in for a year or maybe 300 hours. $26000 dollar machine gets good stuff from me. And the conditions aren't great with the hot weather and running AC and Idling a good bit. I deliver mail, and may try it in my Toyota too cause it takes a lot of heat in the summer. Thank You teddy

Red Line 15W-40 is the oil recommended for diesel use specifically. Of course that's the only Red Line oil that Advance Auto Parts does not carry /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. The 10W-30 according to the website is for gas engines but is rated for diesel use. The Advance Auto near me won't special order the 15W-40 unless I want to buy about a hundred cases of it. I'll just have to keep looking, I don't need it until spring. If I can't find it I suppose I'll use the 10W-30. Here's a link to Red lines Synthetic Oil Product Data site: Red Line Synthetic oil

Here's the site for the descriptions of the Red Line Synthetic oils. Just click on the oils weight and you will get a description of its uses. Red Line descriptions

The website shows 10W30 also for diesel use with all the diesel ratings. I sent them an email about using 10W30 instead of 15W40 and they said many of todays diesels are using oils like 10W30 and even 5W30.

I was in Advanced Auto this evening and noticed that the Red Line Oil was priced at half off ($4 a quart) on a table at the entrance. I don't know if it is a limited area or maybe this store only. Store is in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
