+1 . Removing roof was a piece of cake

It was before I found TBN and would never had thought to remove the roof on my own...anyway, the nuts did fall down and I used a magnet to fish them out (may have lost one or two). Thinking about what Boris1 said I may have used automotive type clips and screws for my replacement Pioneer speakers or may have put a dab of silicone on each nut and let it set up to hold it before I put the speakers in the hole - don't remember. I do remember the stock speakers were crap....

Polk Audio DXi400 4" 2-way speakers at Crutchfield.com
should be adequate and have nice grills. Ordered them today.
Here's what the dealer said: I spoke with Dean about this. He says the roof must be removed and that its not difficult
or heavy, just bulky.

What is sorta funny about this is if the oem speakers had decent magnets on them, the loose screws would probably jump onto the magnet.

Kubota, you are missing a marketing opportunity here. Many of us buy upgraded radios for our cars and trucks, though oems are getting better, particularly if Bose or
Harmon Kardon are stock. Put a $300 audio upgrade option in, give us four, not two decent speakers, and an easy to use name brand radio.

appreciate all the input here, got a great education on what's under the "upper hood". Drew

Actually I did buy them from crutchfield, don't remember the exact model # though (trashed the box). For The radio (from crutchfield as well)I cut the plug off, used a volt meter and had a 50/50 shot on the speakers as far as right to left and used very small insulated spade connectors. Of course after that I found a site through TBN that sold a OEM plug for exact pin match, go figure. Live & learn I guess.

new speakers installed, much improved sound, though of course no bass out of 4 inchers.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the OEM speakers were made by Clarion, a fine brand, though in China which was
no surprise. Typical inexpensive paper cone speaker, likely cost them five bucks a piece. And if you look carefully, part of the rubberized surround coating on the far
left is already starting to flake off... Since they put them in all the cab tractors, whether you buy the radio
or not, I guess it makes sense to not waste cost here, particularly if one is only listening to talk radio or the weather report. I like vocals and the new Polk speakers
are a huge improvement.
