Has anyone found a replacement cylinder for the mid-mount mower lift cylinder on the 755/855 series tractor? Mine is leaking at the rod end packing, just enough to keep the mower from ever rusting. The cylinder is pretty grimy, so I'm not sure if it's rebuildable(can't see how it would disassemble), and JDParts suggests a price upwards of $230.

Can't answer specifically, but you need to get it off and clean it up...$20 in seals might just fix it. Sounds like a good winter project;)

Yup, that's just what I'm thinking. I've purchased the caps for the hydraulic taps, so once mowing/leaf cleanup is done, I plan to remove it, cap the lines, and that'll give me the whole winter to decide what I want to do. I've also been toying with the idea of simply capping the down pressure port, installing a filter on the cylinder side, and using it as a single acting cylinder. The mower deck dropped pretty fast when I had a leak in the up pressure side, but that might just indicate air is able to get in pas the rod pretty easily.
