If anyone is looking at doing this i managed to do it without any drilling or welding or using any bracket. Assuming you use the same filter assembly as below or one with similar width mounting holes it is possible to mount it using threaded rod and 3 nuts per rod. The rod goes into the block. A nut holds the rod in tight against the block. I used loctite too. Then the next nut screws on and sets the clearance from the block and the steering hydraulic pipes. Then you mount the assembly. Then you out the final nut on that holds the sssembly on tight. Use 8mm hose and barbed fittings. Use washers if necessary.

Nice job. Simple is usually best.

I'll second Piper's remark. Excellent! Using allthread as stand-off's is a good idea.
Ryco products aren't readily available here in the colonies but there is a Raycor knock-off on Amazon that would appear identical, plus it has a water seperator and drain (I believe it would retro fit to the Ryco filter head). I would recommend that element since you are replacing the sediment bowl as the primary filter.

The universal fuel filter assembly shown has a bowl and drain tap. There are 3 replacement elements to suit. It comes with 72mm height but can be replaced with 112.5mm amd 86.8mm height elements. Part number is Ryco R2132UA. Im in Australia.

Yep, knew you were from down under when I Googled "Ryco fuel filter" that's why I provided the Amazon link - as a convenience for domestic peeps that may want to do what you did. Ryco products are not widely marketed or known in the US. In fact I'm willing to bet a buck that your filter assembly is identical and interchangeable with Raycor filter elements. After I enlarged your pic I did indeed see a transparent bowl, but it was sort of dwarfed by the hydraulic lines.
