We covered him with the blanket to keep him warm and controlled the bleeding with some of the first aid supplies. We stayed until EMS arrived and they took control of the scene. Pretty scary incident.
.....and like a good neighbor gsganzer was there. (sounds like a song/jingle doesn't it?).

Good thing you had emergency supplies with you!!! I really need to add to what I have in my truck. All I have is some Band-Aids.

I put together a pretty decent trauma kit for my truck, with combat blood clotting gauze and other trauma tailored supplies. It even has a dental emergency kit. The old wool army blanket has come in handy many times over the years.

I need to go through it and see if it has any expired supplies.

Smart. Especially with all the time you spend out in the field hunting!!! I just have what I've needed while on different jobs. Bleeding from a minor cut all over the place gets messy and blue tape only lasts so long, so I have the box of Band-Aids.

Have you met your new neighbors yet? Any hunters? Do they have tractors?

No, I haven't met the neighbors yet. But I have the phone numbers for the 5 people that live on the road and share in its maintenance. Apparently, one of them is the one that does most of the maintenance, because he has the equipment.

We can only see one neighbor from our place. The seller said he's an older cantankerous guy that would give you the shirt off his back and jump in to help you with anything. So, it sounds like we have a lot in common, and we'll get along fine. ;)

We moved some stuff to the new place and spent some time working on the chicken coop. My wife had one of her Kilgore College Rangerette friends visit, who's an interior decorator. I hate dealing with that stuff, so I turned them both loose on finding new living room and dining room furniture and make it all work together. I retained veto rights, but I'm pretty easy going and I know they'll make the place look great.

Here's the chicken coop plan and the progress. It'll get painted to match the house.

I've found life is smoothest when I take care of all the stuff on the outside of the house, and leave the inside decorating to "the experts".

Although, I generally (meaning almost always!) get to implement the design, whether that's build, paint, or move furniture!

I bought this property in 1993 for a chance to build a house and sell it for a profit, move on and repeat until i build the house i want to live in forever.

Problem is, we came to love the place and the nice quiet town. 30 min drive to bigger town with things we need to buy. Wasnt too crowded so drive was fun on tree lined roads.

Now, 30 years later, 2 lane treed road is a 4 lane divided highway with 100’ center median. All trees are gone along road. People everywheres. The main town has easily doubled…maybe trippled in size. Instead on 1 signal light, there are something like 12 thru town….none are synchronized. Adds maybe 15-20 minute trip thru town. Sometimes sitting thru 2 signal changes to get thru intersection.

People used to wave to each other, now there are middle finger salutes.

I started dreading coming to town. Luckily they built a new shopping center in my town, about a 5 minute drive. Nice, huge grocery store, hardware store, 3 restaurants, a bank, auto parts store, tractor supply store, 2 auto repair places, a car wash and oil change center. Theres a tire store coming in. And for some reason a dollar store and a separate 99 cent store. I

This progress is more my liking.

Maybe i can stay here instead of moving
