A little over two months ago I decided to purchase a larger rear blade. I have a Land Pride 3596 @ 566#. The new Rhino 8' - 950 is 1000#. I got it today and used it carefully on various portions of my mile long gravel driveway. A lot of the driveway is still pretty wet and two area still have puddles across the driveway big enough for the Titanic. Yes, this is now the wettest spring in the 35 years I've been here.

Anyhow - what an amazing difference. First thing I noticed - drop the blade, move forward and WOW - its smooth. No jittering, bouncing or otherwise loud obnoxious noises as I move down the driveway. I can now easily cut one inch off the top and spread it across the entire eight foot swath. It brings the gravel out of the ditches like a champ - no if, ands or butts.

The other thing - I could pretty much man-handle the Land Pride into position for hook up. I'm going to have to eat a lot more Wheaties to even budge the Rhino. Thank goodness I've got extensions on my lower arms.

I never needed a heavier blade for winter snow plowing - the Land Pride was just fine. The heavier Rhino is so I can move material on the driveway after it dries out and turns to concrete. This will definitely improve my summer driveway maintenance program.

Very nice, no doubt about that. Now we just need to get you set up with 2-3 more hydraulic cylinders and a few more control valves.

Depending on circumstances, but you may want to consider a set of skid shoes. :confused3:

I was actually thinking about this last week not having seen you post anything else about it once you had ordered it.

Again, very nice blade and thanks for the post.

oosik, Big tasks require big machines.....I'd love to sit in that tractor/setup and work it.
Here's what my little Rhino looks like...........and Yes, "Hydraulics" would make it all go better I suppose.
Cheers,
Mike
Oh yeah, a QH makes the hook up easier.628.JPG

I got the Model 850 (8') version.
For me having 2 hydraulics (tilt and angle) was a must. Though I realize that for snow, and some soil scrapping jobs, letting the 'tilt' float (when not on flat pavement) lets the blade do a much better job following the contours of the ground at the blade rather than pitching with the tractor (and the ground ahead of the blade).
The other handy thing about having the hydraulics is when hooking it up, You only have to get one tractor link arm close, and then plug the hydraulic hoses in. Then I can align the blade's frame up/down or left/right with the hydraulics (i.e. with it unconnected to the tractor, the hydraulics move the blade's frame, not the blade itself. No man-handling required). - Or you can just get a quick connect system.

Very nice. That's the newer version of my blade, back when the company was called Servis.

I agree, the extra weight really allows for smooth travel.

Very nice scrape blade oosik...

I took the liberty of lifting a picture of an older Servis Rhino Utility Blade...
My dad bought one of these years ago back when he sold tractors and implements...
I think that he got it in the late 60's or early to mid 70's...
It is 8 foot and has cat 1 & 2 hook up...
At the time we used it on our old D17's...
It works well with my Workmaster...
I've had numerous opportunities to sell it but I have no reason to let it go...

You will get many years of service out of that blade...
Excellent units...

If you look closely, you can see my Fit Rite hydraulic top link. Its been a real blessing to use with ground engagement implements. Its very helpful for the final connection on implements also. I was rather hesitant to spend the money, and, you know - its hard to be impressed until you actually use something. But, this is one addition I should have put on the tractor from the beginning. A tremendous reduction in "leaping off in single bounds" to make what might be that final, last & perfect correction. Let the hydraulic top link do it for you as you motor on.

Its another rainy day here in Ea WA - I can only imagine how much they must be getting on the West side. I'm now ready to start work on the driveway - if or when it stops raining and starts to dry out.

I like that blade. I need one like it, but I'd also like the hydraulics to go along with it...

I have access to a similar blade and I am always wishing I could feather it one way or another. But I am relegated to the 5 holes that Woods has allotted me.

I keep seeing them around... and I keep cussing and getting off my tractor.

Glad its working for you. I'm envious
