kubota L3400
About a year ago I bought a used L3400 HST 4wd w/ loader. My jd L130 riding mower is on its last leg. Here are my options>

1. Buy a Toro zero turn - keep L3400 , 5-foot bush hog, 58 inch RTR tiller
2. Buy a finish mower and push mower ( to mow around house ) - keep L 3400
3. Trade L3400 for a BX25D w/ backhoe, loader, belly mower - was quoted 22,500.00 today at dealer. Said they would trade tillers for a smaller unit.

My L3400 has 250 hrs.
After learning about the jerky hitch and PTO over-run issues a better tractor sound pretty appealing.

Any suggestions...:2cents:

The Kubota website lists the BX25D with a 5 foot mower at $22000. So, I'm not sure where they are getting the extra $500. But I'd be more worried about them just taking your L3400 away for nothing.
I would think the two tractors would be pretty close. A larger tractor used for a smaller one with a mower and hoe. But that's not how you described it in option 3.

I told her 14,500 for my tractor, I paid 13,500 a year ago. Thats my retail price compared to their retail. But I am not sure if this is my best route to go, I have 10 acers to maintain.

As the owner of a BX23 I'd have to say that 10 acres of maintenance is going to be a lot of hours with a BX, depending on what you mean by maintenance. If you have to cut all of that every week, a BX isn't big enough.

Well about 4 of it is wooded. What is the mph that you can mow at ? zero turns say you can mow at about 8-9 mph...

I only mow in low...I'm sure it will cut in high range full speed but I haven't tried that...I cut around 2+ acres of lawn every week. Takes about an hour.

I think the BX will do around 7-8 mph in high range...Not really sure as I didn't buy it for speed.

If you're going to cut that much with a ZTM, you should go commercial with a 60" deck...You'll probably burn out a big box one doing 6 acres.

A BX with a 60" deck would do it..Just going to take a few hours....What was your dearly departed lawn tractor as a point of reference?

After taking a look AF the Kommander line it is unlikely you will burn one of those up.

Why not a B series vice BX?
The B wouldn't be any faster than the BX, just higher ground clearance unless a bigger mowing deck which again a BX2660 or the BX25 with a RFM of the same size would do the same speed. The size of the mowing deck will be the determining factor to the amount of mowing time. More HP required for bigger deck so start at deck size. General maintenance the BX25 will do the job but a bigger tractor or heavier or more HP tractor will speed up backhoe production.
I've used a 6' Landpride (heavy tank material) RFM on Bs (32HP 1700lbs) and an L (32HP 3700lbs). The B pulled it fine and cut fine but on hills the mower swung the Bs around in turns but no impact on the L. But the L sort of struggled on the steepest hills keeping power to the mower and pulling its own weight.
A BX with a 60" deck on level ground will be as fast as a B with a 60" deck and I'm not seeing the number of level acres using the same size deck making the BX to small for the job. The Bs do have 3 speeds and the BX only 2 which does offer some extra choices with the B.

Your pricing is a bit off from the dealer, got a bx25d with 60"deck, quick connect, three point hitch and thumb for 19k delivered etc. and I'm sure there was still room for movement .....with a trade you should do way better.
