I just bought this rock rake (see attachment). Ok, main purpose is to rake rocks. But I believe it can also be used to rake the grass in my garden as well as raking the hay in small lands? Anyone experienced this? I think it can be done by adding a height adjustment manually or by hydraulic lift? Thanks, Nomad

I've used York Style rakes for years and they will certainly rake the grass in you garden. Twigs, branches, brush, no problem. Hay, not me unless you can somehow figure a way to not pick up any soil. Also I have used them to rake leaves, works great on a gravel drive but is kinda rough on lawn.

I just bout a CK20 from Little Tractor, but didn't get a rake in my package. How much did you have to give and where can I get one? What kind of tines does it have? I have been told that some break off more easily than others. I hope to have some Christmas money left over for more "toys"

Jim, how did you like dealing with Little? I live about three miles from them, and am thinking about buying a trailer. I have an orange tractor, but it is the "other" one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Little was great. Not only did he have the best prices by far, he had more stock than anybody else I checked. I drove to 5 dealers in a 6 hour radiusover a 3 weekend timespan in Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Some of them put up a good web presence, but Little backed it up with the real deal. I test drove the tractor I wanted in 5 different configurations of tires, loader, no loader, implements too. The other guys didn't even have 5 Kioti tractors on the lot, let alone 5 CK20's. He didn't try to sell me the cheap stuff most of the web package guys throw together, either. Top of the line, name brand. Plus James is a good guy to talk with, no pressure, just the facts. In summary, Little backs up his web site with a real dealership, not just a shed and a few machines they try to hawk over the 'net.

I've been thinking about you hay idea. How would you go about it? I used one of the old "dump rakes" as a kid. Is that what you had in mind? What kind of paint is on your rake? The more I think about it the more excited I get.

"Little was great. Not only did ..."

Thanks! He is building a new facility just up the road from his old place, and has a big stack of trailers sitting there. I will have to check them out.

I agree he does have a big inventory of tractors, too. I did stop one day a while back for just a few minutes, and I thought they were good looking machines. Don't remember seeing the CK20 at that time, but he sure has a bunch of them now.

Finally concluded that the BX22/23 was the best fit for my particular need, though.

Jim, I was offered two types of painted rakes; one was powder static painted and another one was, how you say?, wet? painted. I chosed the second (as seen in the attached picture) although the price difference is very little. I don't mind the paint and the color much as I'm not a female - lol. Concerning the cost I paid; forget it. I'm at another corner of the world and shipping one rake to you will cost you much. I'd recommend you Midwest MFG very close to you so that you pay Zero shipping cost;-).

Yes, Dump Rake is a good idea. I already took a picture of a dumb rake and was thinking to buy it. But I may give up buying it as it's a horse driven rake. (see picture attached) - Is this you call "dump rake"? I was thinking to adopt this horse driven rake attached to tractor driven hay rake. But as I have a rock rake now, I think I can use it also as a hay (dumb) rake if I add a tire?

Thats a right nice looking rake. If I was a betting man I would say that it was probably painted right where you took the picture of it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes that's a dump rake, it dumps best if you are sitting on it's seat so you can reach the dump lever. I'd imagine you could use a York style rake to do much the same thing, but would be suprised if you could get by with only one gauge wheel. Well maybe not, some places aren't as hilly as mine.
