6 inch? I would go with the largest Ridgid that would fit in there, maybe 18".

And I agree - this is no place for HF-grade tools. Buy the best, and get the job done on the first try.

Jaw size is right. If you need more leverage get the appropriate size pipe.

That being a Wallymart style tool will most likely bend even under moderate arm pulls.

Custom grind the bottom jaw to fit. Clamp on with as much might as you can. Strike handle with large hammer. I'm sure it will budge, and them break loose.
