But that's art!

And so it is... my time to see novel things seems to be deminishing as I age. Why am I appreciating this? :D

That is the truth. When you've been around awhile and seen a lot...it takes something really different to catch your eye. Art is in the eye of the beholder. That is art!

You raised them well.

My daughter's close friend had overprotective parents. When 4 years the kid was running around and crashed her head into the corner of the table next to me. Before she could figure out if that hurt or not, I immediately said "Don't run your head into the table, that will make your head hurt!". Just as her parents leaped to their feet wailing with anguish and sure to get her wailing along with them. Kid turned to me and told me solemnly it wasn't serious. Her parents stopped cold, momma asked me 'how did you do that? She's very sensitive, normally we would have to comfort her a few minutes until she stops crying.' I thought to myself she cries because you are upset!

Much later I gave my daughter a tiny Swiss Army Knife among her birthday presents, then a little later we gave one to that little friend on her birthday. Her parents were shocked, 'but she'll cut herself!'. I replied Oh she'll be a little bloody for a couple of days then she'll figure it out. Momma scowled but recognized my humor, she wanted her kid to have more of the common sense that our kids possess so she dropped the issue. Even later, tree climbing. I didn't restrict the two girls climbing, that tree had branches so dense only a little kid could zig-zag among the limbs. Momma saw them 10 ft up and panicked, I finally persuaded her climbing trees is a normal part of a kid's childhood. That momma must have had a very protected childhood.

So true...

Sad to say I have seen this to be the norm and parents wonder why?

One of my co-workers was lamenting her 22 year old son never had a job... she asked me to hire him to help with the rental property business... I asked what can he do?

About a week later I had a 3 bedroom house to turn over... junk removal, cleaning and painting... mentioned it to his Mom... she thought about it and declined... said she didn't want him to hurt his back or be around chemicals/fumes.

I don't know about the rest of the world... but I was driving my Grandfather's tractor going up and down the windrows haying before I was 5 and painting rooms and mowing neighborhood lawns by age 8...

Her son eventually got a job as a check in clerk for the airlines at San Francisco Airport...

Parents can be a child's worst enemy based on how they react to things.

Neighbors grand kids arrived . They are driving a Ford Explorer , a 1998 . In tow they have a piece of crap 29 ft wilderness travel trailer . I walk over because I know the woman . Now the back bumper is 4 inches from the ground and the front wheels look like they are ready to get airborne . he is using a regular hitch , no weight distribution , in addition to being more trailer than the SUV can tow safely . I explain to her husband a Weight distribution hitch , and show him mine on my camper . he has no clue . BUT he says he it taking back roads and not going over 30 MPH . Worst part is they have 2 infants with them

Ya should have started out by pulling out your camera and taking a picture of the rig. Then explain that you are a member of a site that has a message thread dedicated to "people towing exactly like this". Being clue-free is a lifestyle choice, they wouldn't have given it a second thought and we'd have had another picture to laugh at!

This morning I saw a guy with Kubota ZTR on a landscape trailer with about a 3X3 wood block behind one back tire. We were traveling down a fairly rough road and the block started to work its way loose. that is when I got around him and never looked back. The block was his only "tiedown".
