should I buy a dump trailer?

In my search for a good used (or new) trailer, I came across this dump trailer for $2995. It's new and is the 1.5 ton version. Is that a good price? I had been just looking for a good utility trailer but wonder if it'd be worth price to go for the dumper.

The problem is that I don't have a set of jobs lined up for the dump - I can see that it will be useful down the road but it sure would be a tool in search of a project Is this something that I'll find all sorts of uses for and wonder how I ever got by without one?

I was looking for a dump trailer last year. A good used one was hard to find to find. I looked a 4 ton dump trailer new was $5000 , The more I looked at it the cheaper it was, single cylinder and the floor was quite tinny.Oh it also had 15 " tires. I found a 6 ton Bri-Mar, twin cylinder 16" tires and heavy metal for floors and sides, used I paid $4500. I have a 04 powerstroke and I need it when I get it loaded. I also bought an attachment for my 3 ph on my Kubota 4310 tractor that takes the receiver so I can hook it up to the tractor and I use it around the yard for picking up whatever, comes in very handy. I dont know if the $2995 for that trailer is a good price or not but I would definately by a dump trailer, very versitile. Oh I also haul my 6000# excavator on it and 2 4 wheelers and It is great if you help someone to move. And it is a labor saver if your wife wants some topsoil or mulch. Just my opinion but I would definately have one.

I recently build one, and I love it. One thing I'm concerned looking at the trailer above. I would not buy a dump trailer that sits on a single axle. Just my opinion.

Once you have a dump or tilt trailer, you'll find all sorts of uses for it. Unfortunately, my 22' Cam Superline is too light for my needs so I gotta sell it for a bigger one.

I was looking at the single axle for a couple of reasons - mainly cost and weight. Going to a dual axle really increases the price and the dual axle dump trailers are a lot heavy.

Do you say to avoid the single because it can't carry as much or are there safety/usage issues?

single axle-blown tire-BIG probem.
dual axle-blown tire-not so big problem.

I would say it really matters what you are going to carry with it . If you arent going to carry much then the single axle would be fine.

The latest greatest thing is the roll off dump trailer, that can convert to a flat bed also.

I just sold my 12K gump trailer as it was a double use product - dump and haul tractor, also the sides were so high on mine, my tractor would not lift over the edge, the sides were too high.

Whereas this beauty does a lot more. I can drop off a " roll off" on a job site, have a crew work that, drop off a second one with another crew, and then use the flat bed fo rall it's usefulness.

I bought a 12k a few months ago and I love it !! I haul my tractor, gravel, rail road ties.. etc... I say go for the 1.5 dumper. You can do everything a utility trailer does and alot more. The dump feature alone is worth its weight in gold.

I just bought exact one you are looking at and it is great for its intended use-2000 lbs load.( 3 yards of mulch or one yard of dirt) 2995 is a going price. tows like a champ.If you want more capacity, there is a model that looks identical but has a 6000 gross weight.
