Backhoe Small Trench Bucket for Kubota BX25

I've been searching for a trenching bucket for my BX25 that is smaller than the factory bucket. I need to run a lot of water lines and I don't want to move more dirt than neccesary. All my searching led me to nothing that looked great... So, I asked an engineer brother in-law of mine to design me something Awesome. And he did just that.

I'm very excited to have this and I'm sure many of you would be as well since there is nothing similar to it. Dirt doesn't get stuck on it much and even when it does there is plenty of clean out grooves. It works awesome!

that is a really great setup. I have a backhoe on my LS XR4046HC and it has a 12" bucket and a 16" bucket. I think yours is much better for the application.

It does look great, but until I saw the pictures I didn't know you were talking about a bucket for your 'hoe.

Looks like a jai lai basket to me.

Wow, i must say, im impressed. How wide is it? Ive had customers wanting narrower buckets than is offered but nothing i cam really do for them as there is just no way to tell if an aftermarket will fit up like it should. What a great brother-in-law you have. But wait what!? You didnt spend the $13.00 on the kubota bright orange rattle paint just so you can wear it off?

The previous owner of my B26 bought it with a 12" and 18" bucket then cut the 18" down to 7". It is perfect size for trenching, but it does get the dirt stuck in it badly if it is the least bit damp. That one looks like it would do a good job but I think it would be better with a little higher sides when using it in dry soil. I think most of the dirt would fall out unless it had a lot of moisture.

Thanks for the great feedback! It is 4 1/2" wide. I just did a 100' trench with it yesterday and laid a water line in it. It did great!

My brother in law is a good man... he works at a fabrication shop designing anything from machine gun mounts to residential drive bridges. He did advise me to paint it to avoid rust, I think black will be the winner since I don't want to spend $13 for a matching color =)

It is still pretty dry here in Oregon (until next week) and after digging 100' I'm able to say the dirt falls off at the right time once you move it to the side of the trench. Seems like as you pull it out of the trench the trench walls help it to form a stable side. That was my first thought as well so I had him increase the side walls if we make it again. I had to clean it out 2-3 times but figured out different dig patterns clean it out by itself i.e scraping horizontal as apposed to straight down and back at you.
