Toolcat B series
I do snow removal for a large number of residental homes and while my tractor mounted snowblowers to an ok job I was looking something a little different.

I wanted a tool that not only removed the snow but left a really clean surface.

This is what I came up with. The rotary broom is mounted to a blade that drags out the snow. The weight of the unit really helps it cut through ice and hardpack. THe broom then really scrubs the surface.

Has anyone seen any commerial units like this. I think I'm going to need something a little more robust. I must change out the little blade for a box scraper. It would hold alot more snow.

Any other thoughts for improvement.

Thanks dylan

I have a Rotary front mount broom on our JD X475 garden tractor and that works spectacular! :D

Contact a company called Sweepster they are in Dexter Michigan. They make all sizes: 40ft wide for airports down to 3ft wide. The brushes can be metal, plastic or a combination. They are at Sweepster

I think a front mounted dozer style blade would be better in combination with the rotary broom on back. If you already have a front end loader, you could add a snow blade in place of the bucket. Then you could plow, sweep, or both, depending on how much snow you get.

Hey Dylan - neat idea ! the box blade will add some capacity. I was wondering about mounting that setup on the front loader arms so it sweeps into the bucket at the front edge. If it was on outriggers from the loader arms, it would lift but not tilt when the bucket is dumped out. You'd sweep going backward - wonder if it would pack too much to sweep it up. I guess the loader or box blade would hold more snow, but neither will do a very good job if there's too much to get rid of.

Maybe you could have a regular blower on the back and use the front for final cleanup of walkways or other fussy spots?

I was thinking about the snowblower on one end and the sweeper on the other. Best of both worlds. Just need a landing strip to turn it around!
I'll have to keep thinking on it.

I saw one like that some time ago. It was pretty neat. Light snows the sweeper, large snows the blade.

I did contact Sweepsteer about two years ago asking for one on my TC29D and they were kind of expensive but you will need an oil cooler to run a broom like that.
