Splitting wood and lifting forks with my 425 “Artie

I now have a hydraulic wood splitter attached to my 425. It works awesomly with the auxiliary hydraulics. (After buying some very expensive quick connects from PowerTrac)

I also made a handy forklift attachment out of an old pallet jack that I got free from the local fish plant.

I didn't know there was anything special about the PT425 hydraulic quick connectors....were they an odd size or something?

I have what I think is the same splitter. I welded it to a dump truck tailgate and made a bench top splitter. Yours looks real nice!

The higher capacity AUX circuit has larger connectors. None of the local supply shops carried the same make.

Thanks. I like that I can operate the splitter either horizontally or verticle. I’m 60 and it’s getting harder to lift some of the bigger rounds so it’s nice to be able to just roll them into place.

Are you using the PTO for the hydraulics? I can't see the plumbing connections in your picture. Please elaborate, thanks.

Yes, I am using the AUX hydraulic circuit. I had to have hoses long enough so that the splitter can work in either horizontal or vertical position. Running the engine at about 3/4 throttle is plenty to provide the needed “juice” for the splitter.

To me, your photo looks like you are using the PTO circuit. Is that what you meant by "AUX"?
