Some time ago I noticed quite a bit of slop in the left side steering knuckle on my JD 5205. There is a 1/2 " grade 8 bolt that is supposed to help keep the knuckle tight. I tightened it and it broke before it even started to close the gap in the knuckle. So I took it off ( yes I marked it first) and squeezed it in a heavy hydraulic press closing the gap. it was not quite round anymore but I was not concerned since driving it back onto the spline would round it out. It fit tight and I replaced the bolt thinking that I wouldn't have to deal with this again anytime soon. The tractor is not used anywhere near full time and yet there is a fair amount of slop already. It looks like they should have used a 3/4 " bolt instead. It's my first tractor - what should I expect? Is this normal? I do have a loader but have not worked it that hard.
