Stickmateｮ LX 235 AC Stick Welder vs longevity 200 stick welder

I am in need of a more powerful welder, I have a Hobart 140 handler mig and want a stick welder. I have narrowed my choice between these 2 welders as they fit my budget and never having used stick need some advise on which to choose. I want to be able to weld 1/4 to3/8 steel but mostly 1/4" material. Thanks

Im known for loving the atomic-bomb-proof Miller thunderbolt (AKA Stickmate). Not fancy, but tough and will last forever. Many push the new chicom inverters, but tried and true works for me.

Best recommendation I can give you is to get something with DC.

The DC inverter will be more versatile, easier to move, and has a much higher duty cycle. The Everlast PA200 is similar and at the same price point with some positive reviews here on TBN. If you go with Everlast or Longevity ask for a TBN discount or use their "make an offer" option to get a little better price.

Average price for a used Lincoln 225AC is about $200 and there always seems to be one on Craigslist. There's a Thunderbolt AC/DC listed for $350 in Charlotte.

Hard to argue with the reviews on the Everlast inverters. Shield Arc claims they have the best arc for the money. Considering his arsenal of toy's, you can take that to the bank!:thumbsup: :thumbsup: No comparison.

Thanks everyone ....I need to make my purchase on my Home Depot or TS card and wanted to stay under $400 as I can afford to do this paying about $100 a month. Retirement is great but the money is not. Thanks for the info on DC so I will go that route.
