I am in the need for a chainsaw. I have some odd and end jobs that I could use a deceit saw for. I know that Stihl is one of the best names in Saws. I want something that I can use to cut stuff from 3-8 inches in size. I have heard some things and have ended up looking at the MS 360 Pro. I realize that this might seem like a little overkill but I live on 10 Acres of wooded area and have a lot of neighbors that sometimes hire me to work. What do you think about this saw? What have u heard? Any input would be great. What to buy within the next couple days.

If that is the new version of the Stihl 036, ( and I think it is), get it!! It is one of the best firewood cutting saws ever. It is lighter than an 044, but has great power. I don't cut much wood anymore, but if I got serious about wood burning again, that is the saw I would buy!

About 25 years ago I bought a Stihl 028. I still have it and use it every year. Other than a new plug about every 3 years, I just run it. I've replaced a few chains and bars but I'd never even consider anything else.

I also have a Stilh FS-66 brush trimmer that's about 15 years old. Same as the 028, built like a rock and will last as long. I'm 53 and I'm sure both pieces of equipment will outlast me.

I have the Stihl M 025C. I bought it because it had some real nice features such as the quick chain adjuster for rapid chain tightening, and a primer bulb for easier starting. Plus, it was two pounds lighter than the 036. No doubt, the saw you are considering is a fine one; I already had a larger saw and wound up giving it to my brother-in-law because it was too heavy for all day use. My 025C handles the size material you are considering with ease.

Daryl,

My 028 is about that old also. I haven't replaced the plug yet, and it still starts 4-5 pullls 1st use of the year, 2-3 pulls after that. Always have used Stihl oil and low test brand name gas. Wouldn't think of buying anything other brand of small power equipment.

I use Amsoil synthetic in my 2 stroke equipment. I usually buy 4 gallons a year direct from Amsoil off their website. I have 2 Arctic Cats and so I go through a lot, but what's left goes to pre-mix for the other engines. My old 028 has never got any carbon build up in the exhaust port and neither has the FS66. The Amsoil seems to do the job. I know my Thundercat likes it.
