A 50/50 mix od Acetone and ATF is the most potent solvent I have ever used, Kroil is next. If you try this mix, it must be stored in a metal or glass (not recommended) container.
EVERY time I'm going to use the tractors pto shaft, I spray it with wd40, then I spray wd40 into the female half of the pto shaft and work it back and forth a couple times. I also spray the locking button or collar on the yoke and make sure it's free.So what do you use on the PTO shaft? Grease, used oil?
Now you know why I NEVER grease them!!

NONE, until you are putting it together, then spray it with wd40...I finally got this thing apart. The grease on the internal shaft was like baked hard carbon. I ended up cleaning it, and used a final pass with a flap sander wheel. So what is the best lubricant to use?
