Suggestions for Steep slope work (machinery)?

Any suggestions on what would be a good sort of vehicle for really steep terrain?

we're on 300acres of land that we graze 150 head of beef cattle on up in the mountains, the main jobs i need to do include digging out ditches, fixing roads, moving rocks/dirt, trailblazing, and taking out trees/moving or loading them for firewood, and damworks

id have a max budget of around 15K so second hand only

ive been looking at Dozers, bobcats, excavators, kangas and big 4wd tractors with frame mount backhoes and am just after some opinions from blokes who have done this sort of stuff before and any advice would be much appreciated

I have a backhoe and the nice thing is that I can swing the digger toward the upslope side of the machine and I feel safer travelling across a slope. Find one with long stabilizers and that will also be hand for leveling you out on a slope. I think a smaller backhoe will likely have a lower center of gravity. You will definitely want a ROPS on whatever you find.

How steep? A belted excavator is very stable.

I think a Kanga would take too long to get anywhere, an orchard tractor has a low centre of gravity but probably not versatile enough, pulling out trees means you need some HP so an orange B is out.
Looks like a bobcat (or clone) or excavator from where I am sitting although it is as flat as a s### carters hat here.
The cockies around here also have a saying, John Deere, dear to buy, dear to run and dear to fix.
