Superduty gooseneck question

   / Superduty gooseneck question #21
I bought a chassis/cab and added an aluminum flat bed with trap door and goose hitch below - would do it again - would do it again with a CHEVVY, though it is possible with a (removed).
It works out real good.
FULL WIDTH bed, none of that 4ft and an inch or two between wheel wells nonsense.
No tin box top rails to worry about scratching up with the goose trailer, etc.
GREAT thing about it is that it is only about 4 inches lower than a standard loading dock, so picking up FULL SIZED things at loading docks is easy.
Add stake sides if you want/need to.

Yeah, I'd do it again - Chev/GM again that is (-:

I really looked at going flatbed, but you can't throw junk in the back, it wanders off on the first turn.

what about stake pockets with small side baords that are easilly removed? that and some recessed d-rings and straps that live in a tool box could make for a dual purpose setup.

How is that a BAD thing ?

Junk is junk, right ?

Mine has stake pockets and a rub rail all the way around outside those.
I went to some length to make up stackable side boards out of 5/4 6 inch PT decking that I could slot in 1, 2 or 3 high according to whether I wanted HIGH for carrying a lot of stuff, medium for stuff with the trailer on, or low for just a few small items.
It worked, I wrecked a few, most stuff now gets held on with cargo straps or bungie cords.
I didn't find D-rings necessary, the stake pockets and rub rail make for good securing points.
Good enough for hauling things like my Harley Rake home, now THAT was a trip that I was pleased I had a 7ft + wide clear flat bed for.

yep.. the rub ral does kind of make the d-rings a tad bit unecescary.
