Synthetic Grease

I want to get some grease for my new used BX23 loader and FEL. Being a big believer of synthetic oils, I was curious if anyone has used sythetic grease, specifically Amsoil Synthetic GH Series Heavy-Duty EP Grease for use, such as inmy application?

Just like with oil, if the grease meets the specs defined in your Operator's Manual, it's OK to use. It's no more complicated than that. And, yes, I've used Amsoil grease.

Either the Amsoil EP Moly or the Kubota EP Moly is fine.

I like the aqua blue stuff from Kubota. I bought a case of Amsoil grease and gave away the last few cartridges. It probably worked fine but was a pain to clean off. I tend to over grease, synthetic or not, it will get hammered out of your loader joints and require reloading. I do it based on how hard I use my loader. In almost 2 years, I am approaching 500 hours and half of that is loader work. I have used a case of Kubota blue grease.

I really wish I could find some heavy duty EP moly fortified grease that was NOT black, blue or red. I like red the best but would prefer the neutral yellowish color that you see in many food grade greases for use on human food contact equipment.

My experience shows they all go dark. We always used a red grease from Chevron in construction but even though the excess would eventually squeeze out red, anything that was used went black.

Yeah, I guess your right. Grease is always going to be a mess no matter what it is colored.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yes, I know what you mean, I just got through cleaning all my zerks and cups out and removing the excess. I used a light military nylon brush and a jewlers screwdriver, combined with some simple green. Oh and a role of shop towels, at least I didn't track it in. What color is the amsoil? Too bad kubota didn't make an orange, to match their paint. Theres an idea /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It turns black too. I've used black, green, blue, yellow and red, they are all the same except the Amsoil was the worst to remove. Some may mention that is a good thing meaning it may stick in the joint better. I did not find it lasted any longer then anything else. After 10 hours, it needs greasing period, especially the four bucket zerks with four bar linkages.

I have some Schaeffer's?? grease that is supposed to be white lithium/white moly. I got it from an industrial (forklift) Repair service company (actually called IRS) a few years back. I'm far from a grease expert, but like the stuff for it's staying power. I believe they discontinued it. It is in generic silvertubes and I bought what they had.

Long long ago I found some PME ST 75 that was a nice spider web type of grease, but this was from a back yard lube guy who bought a lot of closeouts and bankrupt stock, and I'm sure PME or at least the ST-75 is long gone...

I now have some Mobil SHC PM synthetic grease that is a lighter off white color and seems to work pretty well.

I've found that the stuff that is hardest to "burp" from your grease gun works best for me and can be a big PITA to load...
