I usually cover my wood piles with any ole tarp - blue, green, silver....what ever I have around. Its getting to be an eye sore for my neighbor and I was wondering - if anyone knows of a good strong tarp material that is black (which looks better in my opinion than the multi color solution I have now) but that is about 24-30 inches wide - I like to cover the top and a little of the sides of my wood piles. I never see black tarps but the previous home owner left some balck plastic which I just started to use but doubt it will hold up for long.

I buy black visqueen on rolls for our manure pile, I think it's 10mil so it holds up really well. It comes about 15' wide but you could cut it in strips for your purpose. It's UV protected so it doesn't break down.

I've changed to camouflage tarps for my wood stacks. Much better than blue, green or silver.

How about clear for reduced visability? 6 mil uv protected plastic that you cut in the strip size you want should last as long as the cheap blue and green tarps with the added benefit of some solar drying help.

I use EPDM roof membrain ... i scored a 3000lb load off of craigs list a few years ago .This rubber is thicker than the rubber I was using ... it does not blow off at all . I also put my 15 cord on galv. sheet to counter ground moisture...

I have never covered wood piles, and never had issues burning anything. I typically season wood at least one year before burning, sometimes 2 years. It would take an awful lot of rain (like, biblical proportions) to soak that stuff to the point it won't burn. But either way, the wood gets moved onto a porch days before burning, and then inside hours before burning.

I do plan to build a wood shed at our new place, but that's for aesthetics only.

No need to cover your wood pile. Just remember bark side up. The water will run off and eventually end up on the ground. Been doing it this way for years.
