I get the thicker tarps at Lowes. They are brown on one side and silver on the other. I cover so that the brown side is up. I am pretty sure they had long thin tarps made for covering wood piles. I use the tarps that are about 10'x12'.

most of my wood is on 3x3 pallets right now. I use Heavy CLEAR PVC from comes in 3 1/2' x 7' I cut in half to cover 2 stacks.
I'd love to find some rubber roofing.

I work hard for every BTU of firewood, and even slightly damp wood steals BTU's. But I live in the woods too, so limited sun and wind.

I just use the lumber wraps from local lumber yards. Its white on one side and black on other. I only cover the top since I want to keep snow and rain off and I do put bark side up. Makes it easier to work with in middle of sub zero temps and I dont have to bang things apart to grab wood. I use the black side up and it works good, If I see white side up - it just means it been blown over/off.

I also palletize my wood. Stack as much on as my BX25 will lift with forks on the 3PT and then band it down w/fiberglass banding. Easy to move and it does not come apart when I hit a bump. I just cover the top of the rows so it ventilates, weight it down with whatever I have handy. Plan do do about 8 cords this summer/fall. Probably about 10-12 pallets depending on type of wood (weight). I cut up everything 1" and larger and stack. I use pallet boxes to store all the short ends and pieces for kindling. I have fir, hemlock, madrone, oak, maple, birch, apple, pear, cherry, and cedar laying ready to split and stack.
