Anyone know what the 2 in a red circle means on my app icon? The number changes every now and then and sometimes is missing.

Probably either unread subscribed threads or PMs received.

You have Notifications turned on and as said threads you are subscribed to are being updated with new posts and or you are getting PM's. Go in, read your subscribed and PM's and the little numbers in the circle disappear.
