TC 30 Tach

It may be the electrical connection. If it has a connector it could be the first tach was OK and removing the connector to replace it temporarily fixed it. I've seen this on cars. Try removing the connector and spraying a bit of contact cleaner and reseating.

Thanks. I will try the connectors. Is there a web site that shows these parts and where they are located.

I have not had any trouble out of my TC30, but I once had a jet ski and it did the same thing. The thing ran fine, but the hands would bounce all over the place. The dealer replaced the console under warrenty. This did not fix the problem. Finally, they followed the wires all the way back to the power box and found a loose connection. Tightened it up and this fixed the problem. So the initial fix cost the manufacturer about $400 when the problem was a loose nut. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I'm not aware of a web site with a parts breakdown. Maybe someone with a TC30 service manual can help. Take a look behind the dash and see if there is a connector on the tach. If so, try removing it and spraying some contact cleaner into it. It is also possible to have a bad connector that does not fit tighly.

Loose connections can cause a lot of goofy trouble.
