New to me TC35d, need to remove and replace the lift arms, got one side off after a lot of prying, the other side will not budge, have soaked with oil a couple days and no luck, anybody have this before, I just bought this tractor and it needs more little stuff done to it than any machine I have ever seen, I dont think the previous owner ever did any maint, the rear lift arms are trashed, broken, bent and bowed, I cannot imagine what they were trying to do, the owner said he loaned it to a buddy and it was returned in this fasion(some buddy), did not notice this til the next morning, bought it in the dark, this machine runs great and has loader and is 4 wheel drive, hydro, gave 7k for it with a super 6' rotary cutter, 619 hrs, I can put some in it and still come out, even though the lift arms are expensive and I have looked the internet over for used and that aint happening. any advice on removing the lift arm pins will be appreciated.

It's funny how Repair Manuals make things sound so simple. Here is the procedure directly from the manual:

1. Remove the feeback link from the cross shaft.
2. Remove the snap ring on each side holding the lift arms on the cross shaft.
3. Scribe a mark on the cross shaft and lift arms for assembly reference.
4. Remove the lift arms using a suitable puller.

That's it. They don't say what is the "suitable puller" for the job, but my guess is an appropriate sized gear puller. You might also have to put a little heat on the arms to expand them slightly from the shaft. You may not want to do that since they are painted. Good luck with your job.:)

I finally got one off by twisting and pecking around on this, I don't how you would get a puller on this, I took the one I got off to a large machine shop and the man said it was no way to straighten this thing out, it is twisted, been broke, got a patch on the side and welded back together, the other one looks just like it, looks like a mad dirt dauber did it, he sez he can build me a pair by cutting off both ends and rewelding to a new bar, I think I am going to try this as the pair from New Holland is about 1200.00 and he said he could build me a new pair for around 300.00, getting everything else back in shape, it just amazes me that someone would pay that kind of money for such a nice tractor let it get abused, more like violated like this.

Is the rockshaft okay? any damage to the splines? although lift arm should structurally fail before rockshaft seen (not in person) twisted ones.

All of that looks ok, just the lift arms are pitiful, tried agaun today to get the pin out and it will not budge, the man at the machine shop sez can get it out, reckon i'll just take him the tractor and let him make the new lift arms and remove the pin.

I have used a combination of hot and cold to take things apart. Soaked the part with penetrating oil, let it sit, out heat to biol the stuff off and may be loosen things. if not enough I used a piece of dry ice where it caused the inner part to kind of shrink a bit and then separated the part. Anatomy of the part might be right for dry ice.

I'm about to get all the little stuff working on this tractor, still haven;t got the pin out, how do you set the cruise control on this tractor, there are 2 button on the right fender, one is a toggle that kicks the tractor up a bit, is the other the cruise contral, my first experience with a hydro but I think I am really going to like this tractor,

Let's hope the condition of your lift arms is not an indication of things to come. People who abuse part of a tractor are likely to have little respect for other things like regular maintenance and care. Of course, I don't know that, but the bent arms would surely put my suspicious genes on alert.:(

The switches on your right fender console are for cruise and rabbit/turtle. The one most forward is green and is cruise. Pressing that switch will energize an electro-magnet that will hold your HST pedal in place where it is located. It's not tied to engine rpm or speed like an auto's cruise, but rather just allows you to lift your foot from the HST pedal to give it a rest. To de-energize cruise, you can flip the switch to Off or press (tap) both brake pedals at the same time. If your brake pedals are split, you can press either one and cruise will stay engaged (handy for turning while cruise is on). You MUST press both pedals to disengage cruise. Of course, if you stop the tractor and turn off the key switch, cruise will go back to Off and stay Off when the tractor is re-started.

The rabbit-turtle switch is like an extra gear for your HST. You only have two gear ranges (HI & LO on the Range Lever). However, you have Lo-turtle, Lo-rabbit, Hi-turtle, and Hi-rabbit. When you move the HST pedal, you change the swashplate angle in the HST's pump. The rabbit-turtle switch energizes a solenoid that changes the swashplate angle in the motor portion of the HST. So the pedal changes the pump and the switch changes the motor. It really is a handy feature. If you have a New Holland loader, you have a rabbit and turtle switch right on the joystick also.

Your suspissons and mine are the same, I bought this tractor in the semi dark and did not notice the lift arms until I had it on the trailer, someone really put them in a bind at some time, I hope nothing else was messed up, the tractor runs great, I changed the hydraulic oil and filter yestrerday and it was looked real good, clear as a bell, the joustick was all loose and flopping and I fixed that, none of the levers would hardly work, the owner said the tractor had been sitting in a storage faciltyfor the last 2 years with almost no use, his family had bought the tractor new, it doesn't have but 619 hours use on it, but after taking all the lever mechs. apart and cleaning them it all seems to work, the fel loader works smooth and is responsive, just going to use it and see what happens, I got it for i think is a great price, I gave 7k for it and real heavy duty 6' rotary cutter that is in exc cond, we'll see.
