TC33DA Instrument Cluster Problem

On my TC33DA the fuel, and tachometer are both out of calibration. I followed the manual for troubleshooting and determined the fuel gauge is a goner. I didn't see any point going further. The cluster is a package deal. The cluster (PN 86403813 or 86403813R) is just not available anywhere. At this point, repair seems the only option since the cluster is no longer manufactured or remaned. Does anyone know of a shop that repairs clusters for New Holland tractors? Most shops are car/truck only.

Your only option may be to install aftermarket gauges. The fuel gauge should be fairly easy, but I'm not sure about the tach.

Here is a thread where I installed aftermarket gauges on a TC 30 that I recently purchased. Most of the gauges had been destroyed by a small fire, but the tach still works.

I am parting out a 1630. It is very close to the TC series. The cluster PN is 86540851. Not sure what the difference is to yours. Maybe it can be opened up and used as parts. According to the service manual schematics I have, the 30 series and the TC deluxe have the same cluster pin out. Looking at Messicks, I think they changed the look of it.

It seemed to work when I bought the tractor, didn't see any issues with it, but never really ran the tractor long.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Right now, I am in touch with a supplier who claims he can get me an OEM cluster if I can wait on the lead time for production. For now, I will see where that leads, but will also check out the 1620. Bill E.

Mike, I have a TC29 that the entire instrument cluster is in bad shape. The needle on the tach is laying inside the glass, not connected to anything, and none of the other gauges work. The fact that the tach is broken has kind of kept me from even beginning to troubleshoot the rest of the gauges.

It's the same part number, 86540851.

I would be very interested in buying yours if you're interested in selling it.

I bought a TC26DA and once I got it home, realized the tach and hour meter didnt work. Also the light for the glow plugs.

Im really touchy about stuff being "just right" but once I priced the gauge cluster at almost $600 I got over that REAL quick. Even IF I replaced the gauges, not absolutely sure they would work....might be something else.

Hour meter was a quick fix....aftermarket one is like $10 and I cut a spot for it in the lower part of the dash (under the original gauges). Glow plug light was also simple, wired a single LED light in line with the glow plugs and mounted it in the dash.

The tach was a BIT harder. AutoMeter makes an aftermarket diesel tach - not super cheap at around $150ish dollars.....but it works well and was an easy install. Again, cut a spot for it under the original gauges and mounted it there.

Then I took the original gauge cluster over to the guy that does all my vinyl signs and had him make me an overlay to put on the original gauges that cover the inoperable guages with a New Holland logo and leave the fully funtional ones visable.

End result.....for about $225 I now have fully functional gauges and they look REAL good and correct, I doubt you'd ever notice unless you had a factory correct TC26DA next to it.
