Massey scut 2015 GC1715
Greetings Fellow Massey readers,

Later this evening I will be posting some of the pictures I took at my dealer's indoor open house regarding the Massey GC 1700's.

Below are some comments:

Because I own a GC1715 (2015) - I'm already used to the better seat and seat suspension - that is now more standard on all four models. In fact the seat is a dark gray instead of the light gray of my model - but the design, fit, and feel are the same. Same coil and spring suspension setup. The GC1705 and GC1710 were obviously different because of the seat swivel situation and the GC1720 had the same as the GC1710 except its seat had arms on it (you'll see in pictures. I didn't see a GC1715 - but I assume its identical with the arms on it now (but that's an assumption).

The steering wheel appears to be changed on all 4 models and identical. Now the one thing I noticed - is the steering wheel felt better to me on the GC1705 than on the 10 or 20 - because you sit a little higher on the 10 or 20 because of the swivel seat. In other words - I assume the GC1715 like the GC1705 I sat on - I'm closer to the steering wheel than I am on the 10 or 20.

And the couplers on the FEL to valve unit are definitely larger - allowing that coupler diameter to be larger and supposedly reduced restriction of flow. Its bigger - no doubt about it - how it impacts flow benefit - I have to believe they wouldn't have done it if it was insignificant - but no way to know with out testing it.

2 things I also noticed. A GC1710 sat directly next to a GC1720 and I noticed the 20 was taller by maybe almost 2 inches. Turns out the type of tires makes more of a difference than I thought - as the 10 had turfs and the 20 had industrials I believe. I could really notice it in the tops of the rops.

The other thing I noticed - is on the seats, I didn't like the new back of seat storage pocket area. In previous years like mine - it was a hard plastic with a drop down holder cover that inset into the seat. That was nice because its not exposed, doesn't get rain or snow in it and "could" drain out if ever needed. The new "pocket" is a vinyl fabric that matches the seat - buit instead of insetting into the back - its attached to the back and has a flap that goes over the top. Its can flop around a bit and seems like sun, wind, and weather could effect it much more than the prior. The seat looks very nice - and the back pocket thing looks like an afterthought - especially if your tractor is outside often in not so great weather. And because it resembles an attached pouch - it looks like it would not be self draining if weather got inside.

As I stated - I'll have some pictures attached later this evening.

Pictures I took at my dealers recent open house. Note I included a couple pictures of their tractor and lawn mower inside display of Kubota and Massey and Husqvarna and Fendt and Ferris products. Little community but big dealer. I didn't take any exterior pictures or parts or service areas. The service area is the size of a football field or more.

Thank you for the very timely information. I've been lurking here for quite some time gathering info, and have narrowed down my choices to a GC1715 or BX2380. Leaning towards the Massey, the above info is very helpful.

Does the new steering wheel and seat make it less of a reach to the steering wheel? It almost feels like the steering wheel is between my knees.

Does the seat to hydro pedals seem cramped to others who are tall?

As I had mentioned, I have a gc1715 from 2015. The new gc1705 and new gc1715 steering wheel does offer a "closer" reach for the driver which is a good thing. But alot depends on your seat positioning too.

As far as the distance from pedals, that directly related to your seat adjustment. As I've described on several threads, I found a very convenient alteration that requires no cutting or sensor disconnection etc. Etc. To add an additional 3.5 inches of leg room if desired but does not limit close adjustment either.

As a result with no "modifications", I can seat a 6'8" or 4'10" driver and 350 pound driver sizing with stock seat and only bracket repositioning (no cutting or drilling or re-routing of wires or sensors).

Is that possible on the 2018 gc1705 or gc1715? I'd guess it was but can't confirm it.

Just got my new 1720 a few days ago. Looks like a new/stronger hydro filter gaurd as well! All good things! Havent even tried it yet to see if the loader cycle time is noticable.

Fxdb,

You just got it and it's already dirty underneath. Where's all the shiny clean paint and "newness" lol.

Now that is "the money shot". Clean and with an elevated angle. It looks bigger from that angle lol.

Quick question. When I was sitting on GC units at my dealer open house I noticed a difference in "reach" to the steering wheel between the gc1705 and the 10 or 20 . . but I have a 15 so I couldn't compare properly. You had a GC tlb and now you have a new one. Does the new one have an improved "reach distance" compared to your prior unit. ?
