I bought this Walco Renegade lightweight dump trailer today, but I'm a bit intimidated by the size and capacity of the hoist cylinder, despite my wife's fondness for this photo.

At rest the B7510 HST's dip stick showed a half-inch over full. With the hoist up, the dip stick is dry. Halfway down it is still dry. When I let it down some more with the dip stick removed, hydraulic oil gushed out with some eagerness. Lesson learned. At rest the transmission is now at the "full" mark.

This situation reminds me of that bad shower room joke: is my poor Kubota going to pass out before the elevation is complete?

Seriously, will the momentary oil starvation during the tipping process hurt anything?

Thanks,

Rod

I checked the membership list, I don't think we have anyone named "J. Holmes" around here to advise you.:D

No picture..

But, is it really starving or just below the dipstick? I would think that if you were starving it, you would know and it wouldn't go..

Owner's manual might tell you volume used by cylinder, my dump trailer has it's own pump and the reservoir is about a gallon, but it's 12,000# lift so might be bigger than your cylinder. You can hurt your pump if it's starved for oil. If your stick is really dry I think I would not operate that way without talking to dealer or someone who understands how much oil is in the sump.

Without a photo........ If your dump cyl. has a fitting in the other end, or maybe a breather,
and you have a pair of hyd outlets,
you could make it a double acting cyl.
This will add fluid capicity and as the cyl extends, it will be returning oil from the other side, replenishing your oil sump. (once it is filled up)

Funny, it does on my laptop.

I'll try again.

Midnitoyl:

It doesn't sound or feel as if it's unhappy when lifting. Interestingly, at the dealer the guy demonstrated the hoist with a 40 hp Mahindra. The Mahindra's engine came under light load both in the lifting and lowering of the box. I asked why. The technician said that it loads the pump to force oil back through it. The Kubota is obviously plumbed differently. The single hose works fine, though I can drop the box with a smash if I'm not careful. There's a dump line (I guess) straight into the transmission.

BTW: For those looking for the photo, I re-posted a thumbnail somewhere here.

What happens if I overfill the transmission by a couple of litres? The B7510 only holds 15.3 litres (4 U.S. gallons).
