Could someone tell me if there is a product on the market that I could use to fill the cracks in a tire that has developed at the base of the tire tread. I would like to fill the cracks with a gluing agent to bond it back together. Thanks in advance

Yes it is called a new tire, as far as I know there is nothing to do what you want. Tires age and the compounds dry out, usually helped by exposure from the sun. If the tire is on a tractor or off road piece of equipment you can run it till it fails which from my past experience can be a long time

black shoe polish would work for a show tractor. Mine front tires have been cracked for a while. off road, I would run it until it fails like john0829 says. you would be surprised how long they last. I am willing to bet the new tires don't stay crack free more than 2 years.

I replaced the tires on my wife's bicycle and one of the two is all cracked up and the other is fine. both bought at the same time from the same store. not sure if they have date codes like car tires but.... they hold air and thats all they need to do.

I had a tire with a slow leak that developed cracks & was concerned that the cracks might fill up with dirt and rocks and abrade the tire. The tire on the other side without a slow leak hasn't developed any cracks at all.

So I filled the cracks in the tire using a plastic spatula and Dow Corning 3145 (grey). I used to specify it for sealing electronics in instruments for rugged environments and had a couple of tubes laying around. It has held up for a couple of years now, but getting old and has turned an ugly yellow color after a few months in the sun. Also, it is real expensive at around $40 a 3 oz gasket-maker size squeeze tube. Great for underwater, though.

Next time I am going to try Permatex 27037 Optimum Black Gasket Maker. It is for high adhesive for multimaterial, oil & water resistant, and will stretch 15x. Amazon sells it for about $11 per 3oz squeeze tube or $29 for a standard tube to use for a regular old hand-cauking gun. I wish I'd used this one.

For about half that price Permatex also sells their 82180 Ultra Black RTV Silicone - but it has lower adhesion and lower stretch.

I don't know about large cracks but I use "tire black" to paint my older tries that have cracking and it seals them pretty good. I get tire black from a tire recapping shop.

It's a very thick black liquid about the constancy of motor oil. I don't know why recap tire shops use it but I've used on old tires since the 1960's. It gives them a soft sheen and fills imperfections.

There is one tire shop on-line (Miller Tire?) that sells it for $20 ? a quart and you can buy 5 gallon pails on Amazon. A quart lasts a long time. FYI
