Tl-70 Hydraulic Leak

I have a hydraulic leak for many years. However it is getting worse. I looked it over for many times. I notice it after I use and park. I estimate it loses about 12- to 16 ounces, if you run it six hours. Being I only notice the bottom of the tractor with oil droplets, and no lines near by, it's a mystery.
Decided to get more serious and put dye in the hydro fluid you see with a UV light. I used it about a hour today and parked on a clean floor in my pole barn. I went out tonight and seen where the fluid is coming from. It is coming from the (rear to front 4 X 4) driveshaft cover, that has slots every couple of inches. I don't know how big of a job this is, or where to begin. I put the die in the rear reservoir. Drips start at the very back of the driveline and continue about 2.5 to 3 feet towards front. This is a four wheel drive and think the front axels have there own oil supply. Not sure where the power comes from ? Hoping a seal that can be changed without much trouble. Anyone know how to approach this job. Much appreciate any input.

Take the drive shaft shield off and look for the seal on the output shaft. That's probably your leak and replacing it is not too big of a job. You can probably do it without removing the drop box, just drain all the fluid first.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am having a difficult time trying to find the correct parts diagram with the part list. I keep finding, the front axels 4WD PTO Shaft . Being I did not take the cover off its possible this is the correct part but doubtful. The seal to the front axel is good. I have the NH repair manual, reads to remove inner C clips and pull back a splined sleeve. The parts list I found, does not show that sleeve. I think its a external front PTO. I do not have this option. According to the manual . A) slide back front sleeve being held by two internal C clips. B) Remove center support bolts and remove assemble. I need to locate the parts diagram and order the parts. I don't know what the drop box is ? but the less I need to remove the better. Have several Ford New Holland tractors and repair manuals. They show you how to take the internal parts of the transmission apart, piece by piece, but try and find the simple steps and locations of parts, the tractor, leads me to frustration. Not to mention, the books were expensive. I had more luck with online parts diagrams, but a lot of version of this tractor. Thanks again.

This is what I'm thinking you need to look at. ASSUMING you're dealing with a leak from the area around the 4WD dive shaft where it connects on the transmission end of said shaft. All of this is in a box bolted to the underside of the tractor belly. It's a fairly common design used on many tractors. I've had a number of them off over the years.

I did not look at your link yet, but did come up with this part list. Not sure what I need from the parts list but the leak is from the rear where the hydraulics fill and 3-point hitch is. Oil is only coming out of drive shaft cover.

I'm rather confused by your descriptions. The leak is at the REAR of the tractor where the three point lift arms are? The drive shaft as I know it is nowhere near that. There are however, load shaft seals back where the lower lift links attach to the tractor. These are indeed notorious for leaking and needing to be replaced from time to time, but leaks back there don't usually travel to the drive shaft and shield area.

The link I posted shows the area I believe best shows where my thinking leads me for a leak at the rear of the drive shaft shield.

Pretty confusing, because the end coming from the transmissions has no seal and must be in the 4 X 4 transfer case. I attached that part drawing. Looks like part #4 , oil seal could be it. But its had to be sure. Being I need to drain the hydraulic fluid ! best to have the parts in hand so I can use the tractor.

That's not it. That's the input shaft from the clutch to the transmission. Not the 4WD at all.

Near as I can tell, this is the seal you need. Maybe some O rings as well.
