Would appreciate any information/comments on the TN series NH tractors. Am thinking of trading for a 2WD model. And before all you 4WD buffs jumper all over me about not getting a 4WD, first, I work small garden plots and truck gardens, so turning short is a need, second, I can't afford 4WD, third, if the ground is wet enough for me to need 4WD then I'll be at the house watching TV with my dog, or at the local cafe drinking coffee with my buddies.. Us retired folks can do that. Thanks in advance.

HBTC, I too bought a 4WD tractor. Wet weather is not the only reason to own one. If and when you buy a box or rear blade you wouldnt believe how much more work you can do in 4WD,especially in reverse pushing a load of dirt. Also with my L4310 GST you can use the brakes and turn just as short as with a 2WD. You really should try one out before you shortchange yourself. I also couldn't afford one really but after checking them out I found I couldn't afford not to buy one in terms of work done for money spent.

Good luck and hope your enjoy your tracor as much as I do mine

I've been researching the TNs for awhile now. If your going to buy now til Nov 10 is the time. The New Holland TN series has 3yr 0% APR, 4 yr 1.9% APR and 5 yr 4.9% APR. Or cash back which varies by model but seems to be in the $1000-$2000 range.

New Holland has package tractors which are available to your dealer in several days. These tractors seem to be priced better since they are already built and ready for delivery. Your dealer should be able to give you better details on the packages, but they tend to only be
model, transmission, remotes, tires. Other options are dealer installed.

I spent some time flipping through the dealer's order book and noticed a memo that says the supersteer models will now come standard with the 16x16 transmission. With Supersteer you can get 4wd and the turning radius you're looking for.

If you need a third remote it is much quicker to get that as a dealer installed option as opposed to a factory option.

The financing is too good to pass up. I'm probably going to go with a TN75 with 4wd and a loader. While Supersteer is very nice I don't think I can afford the extra $$.

Good Luck

I was at a NH dealer last week and he told me something interesting about SuperSteer and the Case/NH merger. He said that the Boomers are being painted Red as well as Blue. A Case dealer won't be able to compete against a NH dealer. And Case, aka Red Boomers, WONT have SuperSteer. Only NH Boomers will have SuperSteer.

Hope this helps...

Folks, thanks for all the reasons to get a 4WD. I'm just afraid of all those bells and whistles giving trouble in the years ahead when the tractor is out of warranty and I'm on a fixed income and losing money on the farm. I would like the mechanical shuttle. A question for Slanted, I have been looking around at tractors and have noticed that some of them on the lot are already a year old, the manufacture date stamp was as far back as last October. Since there isn't a title to indicate model year, I don't believe I want a tractor that will suddenly become a year old when I pay for it. Also the older machine would have missed any upgrades that might have come along since last year. I'm going to hold out for one built in 2000. What opinions would others have?

You are correct of course that the extra "bell and whistles" could break. In the case of the Kubota they are a proven although not high tech in disign.. They don't really break and the added work they do is amazing. Try one for yourself and you will become a "believer".
Good luck with whatever you choose. Enjoy

I'm not all that familar with ag tractors, but I would think any design changes between 1999 and 2000 should be known. The dealer or NH themselves, should be able to tell you what differences, if any, there are. If it's resale value somewhere down the road that concerns you, I would think that a buyer would be more concerned with hrs. on the machine rather than a date stamped on it.

The dealers I've visted have not had too many TNs in stock and they seem to be turning them over fairly quickly. In fact, some of the TNs I've test driven were already sold and waiting for delivery.

What I can't tell you is how long tractor has been sitting at the 'pool'. In my area the tractors come from a storage yard in Baltimore. Who knows how long they have been there waiting for a home.

Well folks, I finally got it. It took from Sept 23 until Oct 20, was the wait worth it, only time will tell. I have a new TN65 with a Woods 1020 loader. The few minutes that I have run it, it appears to be an awesome tractor. It is loud and I'm not sure if I like the lift controls, it has some buttons on the right fender for raising and lowering the 3pt hitch. The lowering button seems hard to depress. Any knowledge or information anyone else might have on this series tractor would be appreciated?

I also have a TN65 w/ an Alo loader. I'm pushing 100 hrs and have no complaints to date. The express lift/lower buttons are kind of awkward at first but they will grow on you. At first I did not use them as I was used to the conventional lever controls. I just left the express button out and then the 3pt operates with the lever like normal. As time went on I have used them more and more especially when repetative raise/lower operations are required such as plowing and mowing. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
