For whatever reason, I can shoot my G20 (modified grip) better than my GP100.

For loading, I do think the 10MM offers more versatility over the .357 magnum. But we all know what opinions are like (wasn't the 90's, but early 21st century LOL).

Carried one for about three years guiding before I moved on, I need to see if dad still has it. The Blackhawk did get sent from him last year to become a third generation gun. Not many guns fireball like a good .44 load.

I'm not a fan of the angled underlug. One of the things I really like about the 686 is the full underlug. That's a great look to me.

That said, you have to appreciate a revolver with bold turn lines and the logo rubbed in half.

I'm wondering what was the reason for the tapered underlug... performance, weight, or just style?

Very interesting to see all the .357 love here, some other forums you'd be led to believe 10mm killed .357 back in the 90's.

That must be rich people forums. 10mm will put a real divot in your bank account. .38 special is still cheap to shoot. Plus, this is a rural forum, where reliability is at the top of the handgun features list. I chose a 686 because I could drag it through underbrush and rainstorms with no concern for reliability. Many people here seem to have chosen a stainless revolver, I suspect for similar reasons. By "reliability" I mean still in top condition 20 years later, even if it gets frequent use.

If you are a lever action fan, you have your choice of manufacturers in .357, with offerings from Henry, Marlin, and Rossi. There are 10mm carbines out there, but they seem to be all autoloaders. Having a handgun and a rifle in the same cartridge is pretty nifty.
