TODAYS SEAT TIME

My tractor was feeling a little neglected and the potholes in the road were calling its name so I decided to let it off its leash to run for a while. There's just something about a freshly groomed road that makes me want to drive on it lol.

Ain't that the truth!

My heavy duty grapple arrived today. I had to try it out. It's AMAZING it easily moves 5 times the brush my tractor can handle in the same amount of time. This 12,000 pound CTL unleashes devastation on about anything. It makes compact tractors look like sand box toys.

Looks like a nice mill setup. Is that a side line/ hobby or part of a full time business for you ? You guys in the PNW have some beautiful lumber species. Western Red Cedar being one. Every time I get out to see my daughter and grandkids in Portland, OR I am in awe looking at the big straight trees. Makes me feel silly thinking about the eastern spruce and fir that I cut for "sawlogs". The mills take down to a 5" top here . :)

I used my Landpride LR3784 landscape rake with the gauge wheels set so that the tines were raking about 1 inch deep.

I think I need to fab up some gauge wheels for my rake. When I looked at the cost of the optional wheel kit for my Landpride for my BX, I about choked. Definitely see the advantage now that I have used my rake a bunch and am constantly fiddling with the 3pt.

Is is crazy how much more productive a SS or CTL is than CUT.

I'm not a huge fan of a SS. My buddy has one and in those circumstances he would have been stuck and my tractor would be running circles around him. His SS has nearly new tires. The CTL is in a whole different league than a compact tractor or SS.

I took advantage of weather today and the predicted bad weather for this weekend. I took the afternoon off and planted the 10 bare root bush cherries that I just received. I'm working in a compacted pasture so I started by rototilling. Then I came back with the 9" post hole digger because I'm lazy. I finished up the holes by hand. I'll rake the area smooth and put down fabric and mulch later. It was a beautiful afternoon. Perfect timing too. As I'm sitting here writing this we have about two inches of snow already and the storm is just getting started.

Not much seat time today. Since we supposedly are getting snow Sunday, and freezing temps in the mornings next week, I "figgerd" I'd haul some wood to the house.

Then tear into the Woodmaxx 8H chipper for some maintenance and tlc.
