/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I'm new here (my first post) and already ready to take the plunge.
Visited a local K dealer here in Northern California and
came away with the idea that there's not much wiggle room if any in pricing new K's. $24185 for the tractor, a big FEL, rear mower, backhoe, and box scraper. In Calif, I have to pay 7.75% sales tax so am considering driving north to Oregon where they don't have sales tax. Have a friend with a trailer so the 300+ mile drive (one way) might be worth it. Any pointers? Would the locals still service an out of state unit? Can they even TELL if it's out of state?? Does the B7800 sound right for 8 acres of Sierra Nevada foothills, gently rolling, soon to be home and vinyard??? I'm ready to kick the card table over...

sounds like an ok price, but was wondering, do u have that much need for the BH? could save a pile of $$$ if u dropped that. or do u just want it? i would love to have one but it is not cost effective for me /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

B7800HSD 4WD with 402 FEL , folding Rops mid PTO $15000, BH $5000, (3PTH Type) $5500 for Bradco subframe type BH, Box blade $1000 6'RFM $1750 total $22750-24.000 is in range depending on the implements selected. In other words more information/model numbers are necessary to determine if this is a good deal or if you need to shop some more.

Regarding taxes this is a common concern and if for farming, not an issue. Regarding the service and support buy locally if possible but Kubota will support a warranty from a dealer anywhere in the USA. You may not get the fastest service buying remotely but they are obligated to provide the support under warranty.

Just went through this process myself. Let me first say that tractor prices in the West are higher than anywhere in the US - including Or and Wash. Yes, you may save 7% in Oregon but is it worth driving time, gas and not having a relationship with the local dealer for service.

Im no expert but you mentioned "soon to be a home". If you are looking at building your own house with the 7800 - grading for roads, trenching for foundations, grading foundation pad... if your soil is rocky, I wonder of a tractor with more substance, horse power and weight would be better.

/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif OK thanks for the input. I've pretty much decided to not go out of state because I got to thinking
about transporting the beast 300 miles. If I blew a tire or something I could lose the whole load on the
freeway, or I could pay a real trucker to haul it, blowing any savings I make on the tax free purchase.
But guess what, I found a local guy who's having to sell his tractor due to an imminent divorce. What do
you guys think about a 1997 L3600 (39 hp?) with backhoe, 4 way bucket, and big scraper for $20,000 cash, firm.
The tractor has 500 hours on it. Since he's firm on the price, if I go for it I'll ask him to deliver it to my
place at no extra cost (relieving me from my nervous nellie fear of trailering it). Any ideas?

Big difference in size and power between the two tractors. It would be hard for me to think that you need one or the other. Either the B7800 is too small or the L3600 is too large, or do you need something in the middle? I have a B7800 with FEL,BH, bushhog, finish mow and other items. I really love it and works great for me maintaining 8 acres. I would decide what tractor size you need first and then start looking for deals.
